Cabinet Maker II
Position Purpose
- Under general supervision, fabricates aircraft furniture and other wood-surfaced subassemblies using aircraft specifications, design and engineering drawings.
- Maintains a high level of safety, quality, craftsmanship, and productivity.
- Assists experienced team members to enhance cabinetmaking techniques and support quality workmanship.
Key Responsibilities
- Fabricate aircraft furniture and wood-surfaced subassemblies using blueprints, aircraft specifications, and engineering drawings.
- Assemble, pin, and glue cabinet shells.
- Install drawer slides, hinges, latches, and other hardware components.
- Apply laminates, veneers, cap strips, and other exterior surface materials.
- Use hand-held and stationary power tools to fabricate, modify, or disassemble furniture components.
- Follow all safety, 5S, and housekeeping procedures while protecting aircraft interiors.
- Utilize material tracking systems to create parts demand, track squawks, and complete work sign-offs.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on safety, quality, cost reduction, cycle time, and productivity using Lean Six Sigma methodologies.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Minimum 2 years of cabinetmaking experience required.
- Basic knowledge of cabinetmaking processes, products, materials, and tools.
- Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.
- Computer literacy required.
- Experience in the aerospace industry preferred.
- Working knowledge of Gulfstream inspection and process specifications preferred.
- Ability to climb ladders and stairs, work in restricted spaces, and lift up to 40 pounds.
- Must be able to work assigned shifts and support production requirements.
