Description
Responsibilities:
Utilize AutoCAD and Inventor software to design and create detailed and accurate 3D models and 2D manufacturing drawings for interior casework and joinery to be installed in motor coaches. Develop and improve motor coach floor plans for Sales organization.
Responsible for generating CNC programs and transfer files to in-house CNC router. Work with wood shop to ensure accuracy and quality of parts and assemblies and actively participate in continuous improvement processes.
Read and understand specification documents, including the ability to determine the scope of joinery / casework requirements.
Draft and layout designs, using AutoCAD computer software, generate plot files and release production drawings to the shop in a timely manner.
Perform field measurements and collaborate with production and service to estimate materials, labor time, and design time requirements.
Procurement of drawer boxes, hardware and other components, and maintenance of material lists.
Convey important design ideas and instructions to both clients and shop personnel to get projects done in a timely manner.
Trade coordination for space allocation for mechanical, electrical, HVAC, and audio components within tight space constraints.
Perform as-built drawing revisions.
Engage in value engineering to reduce material waste and decrease casework assembly time.
Qualifications:
Must have 5+ years of prior design / engineering experience with projects that extend into fabrication and installation support.
3+ years of prior woodworking or millwork experience strongly preferred.
Must have a bachelor’s degree in design or engineering preferred or a minimum 2 years of experience with an associate’s degree/certificate of completion in design, engineering technology, or drafting.
Must have experience with AutoCAD (2D and 3D) and Inventor
Experience in boat / yacht building, luxury RV, or high end residential / commercial design & construction a plus.
Sharp and creative eye for details, along with the ability to take a verbal request and transpose it graphically and visually.
Understanding of standard building construction methods.
Ability to work in a team environment and collaborate effectively with shop personnel, sales personnel, and customers.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (especially Microsoft Excel).
Schedule:
Monday-Thursday 7am-5:30pm with the possibility of Overtime on Fridays
