Manage and provide daily leadership to a production team of approximately 15–40 employees.
Update production schedules and review employee timecards on a weekly basis.
Participate in identifying staffing needs, employee selection, onboarding, and training processes.
Mentor, coach, and develop team members to support individual and team performance.
Conduct employee performance reviews and administer verbal and written warnings as needed.
Effectively manage daily production challenges in a custom, make-to-order manufacturing environment where priorities and requirements may vary from day to day.
Spend approximately 70% of the workday on the production floor. The work environment may be hot, cold, noisy, and dirty. Proper PPE is required while working in production areas.
Provide team leadership consistent with the company's core values, mission, and purpose.
Schedule and coordinate production operations to meet customer demand, from receiving and handling raw materials through processing, packaging, and finished-product handling.
Oversee the packaging, handling, and transportation of finished products to ensure timely delivery and compliance with customer and company requirements.
Plan and coordinate production activities based on available resources, operational constraints, customer demand, and company objectives.
Develop production plans based on required output, quality standards, quantity, cost, available time, and labor requirements.
Prepare work programs and direct production-control activities to achieve planned production goals.
Coordinate and enforce quality-control procedures and ensure compliance with company safety requirements.
Identify opportunities for new and improved production methods, processes, and products.
Provide management and supervisory personnel with timely updates and recommendations regarding production activities, challenges, and opportunities.
Recommend and implement operational improvements, including new techniques and processes, equipment and machinery purchases, and adjustments to staffing levels.
Ensure the production of high-quality products that are delivered on time and within established budgets while maintaining strong employee relations and a safe working environment.
Plan and coordinate departmental activities to support SQDC (Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost) targets and meet or exceed customer expectations.
Drive continuous-improvement initiatives using LEAN, 5S, Visual Management, Total Quality Management (TQM), Hour-by-Hour Boards, Kaizen, Standard Work, and other continuous-improvement methodologies.
Work effectively and respond quickly in a fast-paced production environment.
Manage staffing levels in response to changing business needs, including adding or reducing headcount as necessary.
