Distribution (Shipping) –2nd Shift
Pay: $19.00/hour
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 3:00PM-11:00PM
Job Summary
We are seeking a dependable and hardworking Distribution (Shipping) Technician to join our 1st Shift team. This position is cross-trained across Receiving, Packaging, and Shipping and is responsible for handling incoming materials, packaging parts, picking orders, and preparing products for shipment.
This is a fast-paced, climate-controlled industrial environment with frequent forklift traffic. The ideal candidate is safety-minded, detail-oriented, comfortable working on their feet, and able to work effectively as part of a team.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Receiving
- Unload incoming trailers using sit-down forklifts.
- Inspect shipments for proper quantity and condition.
- Use stand-up forklifts, RF scanners, and carts to locate and store parts and finished goods.
- Maintain accurate inventory and storage records.
- Frequently enter and exit forklifts throughout the shift.
Packaging
- Operate packaging equipment including Auto Bagger, Hand Bagger, Jones Machine, Taper Line, Hand Pack, and Hoist Line.
- Enter production order information into computer software.
- Manually or automatically feed parts into bags and boxes.
- Perform first-piece inspections to ensure quality and accuracy.
- Follow production orders and customer-specific packaging requirements.
- Use hoists and lift assists when needed.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe workstation.
Shipping
- Pick orders using bin pickers, stand-up pickers, and forklifts.
- Move picked products to sorting and consolidation areas.
- Pack pallet boxes and apply proper labels and shipping documentation.
- Prepare small-package shipments using banding equipment and computer systems.
- Lift and move approximately 50–60 boxes per hour, with some boxes weighing 70+ pounds.
- Cut and customize pallet boxes to meet shipment requirements.
Equipment Used
- Sit-down, stand-up, and cherry picker forklifts
- RF scanners and computer systems
- Hoists and lift-assist equipment
- Pallet jacks and banding machines
- Utility knives, staple guns, and tape guns
- Printers and step ladders
Qualifications & Requirements
- Previous warehouse, distribution, shipping, receiving, or manufacturing experience preferred.
- Forklift experience/certification preferred.
- Ability to safely operate or become certified on sit-down, stand-up, and cherry picker forklifts.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds regularly and occasionally handle heavier boxes.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, and perform repetitive physical tasks for extended periods.
- Basic math, computer, reading, and writing skills.
- Ability to accurately follow written and verbal instructions.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Good communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills.
- Dependable attendance and willingness to work overtime when needed.
- Willingness to cross-train and rotate between multiple workstations.
- Ability to follow all safety procedures and PPE requirements.
- Must participate in daily pre-work stretching activities.
