Senior Buyer – Avionics and/or Electronic Manufacturing

Contract Length:6 Months
Location:Kent, WA or Merritt Island, FL
Work Setup:On-site

Join a leading aerospace organization supporting advanced avionics and electronic manufacturing programs. As a Senior Buyer, you will play a key role in managing procurement activities, developing strategic supplier relationships, and ensuring cost-effective sourcing for complex manufacturing projects while supporting critical business objectives.

Senior Buyer Responsibilities

  • Perform day-to-day procurement activities supporting avionics and electronic manufacturing programs.
  • Develop and manage strategic suppliers and contractors to achieve cost, quality, and schedule objectives.
  • Prepare RFP/RFQ packages, evaluate supplier proposals, and perform cost and price analyses.
  • Negotiate and administer fixed-price and cost-type contracts while ensuring compliance with procurement policies.
  • Issue and manage purchase orders and change orders using Costpoint and/or Coupa.
  • Partner with facilities, engineering, and project management teams to source suppliers and award business.
  • Ensure supplier agreements, NDAs, and terms and conditions are executed prior to engagement.
  • Monitor supplier performance, conduct supplier business reviews, and implement supplier improvement plans.
  • Resolve purchasing, delivery, invoicing, and supplier performance issues.
  • Support backlog management, order tracking, project planning meetings, and schedule risk mitigation.
  • Attend weekly project planning and status meetings.
  • Travel occasionally as required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Senior Buyer Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Economics, Finance, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 8 years of tactical purchasing or supply chain experience.
  • Experience supporting avionics and/or electronic manufacturing environments.
  • Strong understanding of avionics hardware and software components, including EEE components, PCBs, PCBAs, LRUs, antennas, batteries, sensors, ordnance, harnesses, instrumentation, secondary structures, and engineering/testing services.
  • Experience performing cost and price analysis and administering cost-type contracts.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Teams.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment while collaborating across cross-functional teams.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, lawful permanent resident (Green Card holder), refugee, or asylee.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with construction and facilities purchasing.
  • Knowledge of public purchasing procedures and the Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR).
  • Experience using Costpoint, Coupa, and Atlassian JIRA.
  • APICS, CPM, CSCP, or equivalent professional certification.
  • Master's degree, with an MBA preferred.
