Description
This position will manage the sourcing and purchasing of major engineered equipment packages supporting oil & gas/midstream projects.
The Buyer will work closely with engineering, project management, expediting, suppliers and other internal stakeholders while managing multiple projects and procurement packages simultaneously.
Responsibilities
- Manage procurement activities from purchase requisition (PR) through purchase order (PO) issuance and administration
- Develop, issue and manage RFQs, RFPs and RFIs
- Perform commercial bid evaluations, bid tabulations and supplier comparisons
- Support commercial negotiations and supplier selection
- Procure major engineered equipment packages including compression equipment, turbines, skids and electrical buildings
- Create, maintain and administer purchase orders using SAP MM
- Manage PO documentation, acknowledgements, changes, status and invoice exceptions
- Coordinate with engineers, project managers, expediters, suppliers, Legal, Risk and other stakeholders
- Partner with expediting following PO award to support equipment delivery and project schedule requirements
- Manage supplier qualification/prequalification activities
- Maintain accurate purchasing records and required documentation in SAP
- Manage multiple project procurement priorities while meeting commercial and delivery requirements
- Build strong working relationships with internal stakeholders and suppliers
Qualifications
- 3+ years of purchasing/procurement experience within oil & gas, midstream or a closely related energy environment
- Experience purchasing engineered equipment and/or major equipment packages
- Strong hands-on SAP purchasing / SAP MM experience; must be comfortable working independently in SAP with minimal training
- Experience converting PRs to POs and administering purchase orders
- Experience with RFQs, RFPs, RFIs and commercial bid evaluations
- Experience working directly with engineering and project management stakeholders
- Understanding of commercial purchasing terms and Incoterms
- Strong problem-solving, organization, communication and stakeholder-management skills
- Ability to independently manage procurement activities across multiple concurrent projects
Preferred
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business or related field
- Experience with pipeline/midstream project procurement
- Power BI experience
- Commercial negotiation experience
