Commodity Buyer – Indirect Procurement / IT

Location: Austin, TX 78704
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 40 hours per week
Work Arrangement: Hybrid – 2 days onsite / 3 days remote

Training Requirement: During the first several weeks of training, the selected candidate is expected to work onsite full-time before transitioning to the hybrid schedule.

Position Overview:

We are seeking an experienced Commodity Buyer to support an indirect procurement organization in Austin, TX.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background purchasing indirect goods and services, with particular emphasis on IT products, software, technology-related purchases, and other corporate commodities. Experience purchasing IT products is a higher priority for this position than semiconductor procurement experience.

This role will support purchasing activities, supplier negotiations, purchase orders, vendor management, cost-reduction initiatives, and procurement reporting. The Buyer will also play a key role in a project to create and maintain a centralized contract database containing vendors, contracts, and related supplier information.

SAP Ariba experience is required, along with intermediate or better Microsoft Excel skills, including the ability to work with PivotTables.

Key Responsibilities:

• Support procurement activities and purchasing projects.
• Create, process, and manage purchase orders.
• Manage and maintain purchasing and vendor information within SAP Ariba.
• Support development and maintenance of a centralized vendor and contract database.
• Analyze vendor quotations, parts lists, purchasing

Required Qualifications:

• 5+ years of purchasing/procurement experience.
• Demonstrated experience purchasing indirect goods and services.
• Experience purchasing IT products, software, technology, or related commodities strongly desired and prioritized.
• SAP Ariba experience required.
• Intermediate or advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including PivotTables.
• Experience analyzing vendor quotes, supplier information, purchasing data, and reports.
• Experience with purchase orders and standard procurement processes.
• Supplier sourcing, bid evaluation, and negotiation experience.
• Strong analytical and organizational skills.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to effectively interact with internal stakeholders and external suppliers.

Education & Experience:

• Bachelor's degree preferred.
• A bachelor's degree may be substituted with at least 4 years of directly related work experience.
• Minimum of 5 years of purchasing experience required; 8 years preferred.
• Experience with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
• Experience with standard purchasing practices and manufacturing-related documentation, including BOMs and specifications.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience purchasing IT hardware, software, SaaS, technology products, or related indirect commodities.
• Experience with indirect procurement and corporate purchasing.
• Contract administration or contract database experience.
• Vendor and supplier management experience.
• Cost-reduction and strategic sourcing experience.
• Electronics industry experience.
• Semiconductor manufacturing experience is desirable but secondary to IT/indirect purchasing experience.
