JOB TITLE:                            BUSINESS SYSTEMS INTERNSHIP

LOCATION:                           BAKERSFIELD AREA

REPORTS TO:                       DEPARTMENT MANAGER

 

PURPOSE:

The Business Systems Internship is designed to provide undergraduate, post-graduate, and graduate-level students pursuing relevant fields of study with meaningful, hands-on experience that complements their academic and career interests. Interns gain exposure to real-world business systems and operations through day-to-day responsibilities, department-specific projects, and professional development opportunities. The paid summer internship typically runs 10–12 weeks between May and August, with support available for students seeking college credit.

MINIMUM JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Currently enrolled in or recently completed an undergraduate, post-graduate, or graduate-level program in Business Information Systems, Management Information Systems, Computer Information Systems, Business Administration, Computer Science, Data Analytics, or another related field of study.
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States without current or future employment sponsorship.
  • Demonstrated interest in business systems, technology, data, process improvement, or business operations.
  • Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to learn new systems, software, and business processes.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and collaboratively in a professional environment.
  • Reliable transportation to assigned work location(s) as required.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and maintain a driving record that meets company policy, insurance, and DMV requirements.
  • Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a pre-employment screening consistent with applicable state and federal law.
  • Ability to participate in the 10–12 week summer internship program and Student Programs development activities.

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Support various Business Systems functions and day-to-day activities based on department and manager needs.
  • Complete assigned projects and tasks both independently and collaboratively with Business Systems team members and cross-functional partners.
  • Assist with the maintenance, configuration, and updating of business systems and related documentation.
  • Support the research and troubleshooting of system-related issues and user requests, escalating issues as appropriate.
  • Participate in system testing, including updates, patches, enhancements, new functionality, and module implementations.
  • Assist with data entry, validation, analysis, and reporting to support system accuracy and business needs.
  • Assist with documenting business processes, system requirements, workflows, and procedures.
  • Support the identification and evaluation of process and system improvement opportunities.
  • Collaborate with business users to better understand operational needs and how systems support business processes.
  • Assist with special projects and other Business Systems initiatives as assigned.
  • Participate in Student Programs-sponsored professional development events throughout the summer internship.
  • Serve as a site representative in support of the annual Back-to-School Drive.

 

STARTING WAGE:                            $18.25 - $22.75 (dependent on college standing)
