Business Systems Analyst

Job purpose

To perform duties related to the implementation, management, maintenance, enhancement, support and decommission of critical software systems, whether purchased through a third party or developed internally. The Business Systems Analyst consults with stakeholders to gather and define requirements; assist with design and configuration of systems; implement new systems and/or enhance existing systems; write and execute test plans; troubleshoot and resolve system issues; deliver training and guidance to end users and system/service owners; develop and maintain system documentation; prepare robust reports to enhance strategic business decisions.

Principle accountabilities

  • Serve as first point of contact for business applications

  • Serve as a liaison between technical staff and user groups

  • Engage with internal teams to understand business requests, translate requirements into an analytical project approach, and support or lead projects through completion

  • Determines operational objectives by studying business functions, gathering information, and evaluating output requirements

  • Examines current business procedures and recommends improvements and controls by identifying problems or vulnerabilities

  • Work with internal/external customers to diagnose, review, and resolve incidents

  • Interpret information, ideas, and instructions and communicate clearly and accurately both verbally and in writing (including materials intended for distribution)

  • Identify and refer unresolved problems for resolution (internally or externally)

  • Maintain records of system incidents

  • Prepare technical reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends; develop and maintain documentation and standards (including SOPs, training guides, workflow diagrams, single-point lessons, etc)

  • May update and maintain user accounts and manage various permissions based on approved requests

  • Perform data validation using various reports generated from systems

  • Create and execute developed test plans to ensure desired results are achieved; support user acceptance testing

  • Provide system demonstrations and end user training

  • Maintains user confidence and protects operations by keeping information confidential

  • Participate in activities and research to maintain knowledge of industry developments

  • Collaborate with JM IT to ensure that all digital activities are delivered in a secure, robust, and supportable way within the JM IT guiderails

  • Support PGMS data strategy and data governance efforts

  • Identify opportunities for streamlining systems and processes to improve efficiency

  • Encourage safety and housekeeping practices and lead by example

  • WORK ENVIRONMENT – office/chemical plant

  • PHYSICAL DEMANDS – may need to life up to 50 lbs

Requirements for the role:

  • BS degree in Management Information Systems, Software/Systems/Computer Engineering, or any STEM field

  • Minimum 2+ years’ experience in information systems in a manufacturing environment

  • Experience with KBM/AS400, JDE, TrakSYS and/or other ERP systems

  • Experience with data visualization tools (i.e. Power BI, Tableau, Alteryx) and SQL is desirable

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Power Platform/Power Apps, Dynamics)

  • Knowledge of computer network security protocols desirable

  • Project Management experience desirable
