Description

The Business Solution Consultant (BSC) is a sales-focused, customer-facing professional responsible for advancing qualified opportunities, influencing buying decisions, and helping school districts solve business challenges through PowerSchool's ERP and Talent solutions.

Working closely with Account Executives, SDRs, and Solution Consulting teams, the BSC serves as a trusted advisor to district leaders, finance teams, human resource stakeholders, and executive decision-makers. This role combines consultative selling, business process expertise, solution alignment, and sales strategy to progress opportunities through the sales cycle and drive revenue growth.

The ideal candidate possesses a strong background in ERP, HR, Financial Management, Payroll, Talent, or K-12 business operations and is comfortable leading customer conversations focused on outcomes, efficiency, and organizational impact.

Your day-to-day job will consist of:

  • Partner closely with Account Executives to develop opportunity strategies, advance pipeline, and accelerate deal progression.
  • Lead discovery conversations to understand district business challenges, priorities, and goals.
  • Build relationships with CFOs, CHROs, HR Directors, Finance Directors, Superintendents, and other district stakeholders.
  • Align PowerSchool ERP and Talent Soultions to customer needs and desired business outcomes.
  • Support demos, presentations, proposals, and executive discussion throughtout the sales cycle.
  • Document opportunity insights and maintain accurate pipeline information in Salesforce.
  • Collaborate across Sales, Soultion Consulting, and Product teams to help win new business.
  • Serve as a strategic advisor throughtout the buyer journey, helping prospects understand how PowerSchool solutions support their business objectives.
  • Influence purchasing decisions by connecting solution capabilities to measurable business outcomes.
  • Stay current on K-12 business operations, finance, HR, and industry trends.
  • Travel extensively (60-75%), with weekly customer visits common. Travel supports high-impact activities such as advancing strategic deals, conducting onsite demos, and leading executive workshops.

Success Indicators

  • Improved win rates and sales velocity on pursuits with SC involvement.
  • Readiness of demo environments and run-of-shows finalized before demo meetings.
  • SDR-sourced opportunities with SC involvement show a high conversion rate vs. SDR baseline.
  • Quote accuracy (percent with no re-quotes due to configuration/SKU issues).

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.

  • 4+ years of experience in SaaS sales, solution selling, business consulting, account management, or a related customer-facing role.

  • Experience selling or supporting ERP, HR, Payroll, Financial Management, Talent Management, or similar enterprise solutions.

  • Demonstrated success advancing opportunities through a complex sales cycle.

  • Experience engaging executive-level buyers and business stakeholders.

  • Strong consultative selling, presentation, and relationship-building skills.

  • Ability to uncover business needs and align solutions to measurable outcomes.

  • Comfortable using Salesforce or a similar CRM for notes, artifacts, and basic MEDDPICC capture.

  • Familiar with integrations and data flows (including APIs, rostering, SFTP, authentication, basic security controls) and able to flag risks.

  • Clear written and verbal communication that explains technical topics to non-technical audiences.

  • Strong organization and time management across multiple live pursuits.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience selling into K-12 education markets.

  • Experience working with school district Finance, HR, Payroll, or Business Services departments.

  • Familiarity with ERP, HRIS, Payroll, Talent, or Financial Management platforms.

  • Knowledge of district budgeting, staffing, procurement, and operational processes.

  • Proven ability to influence complex buying committees and executive stakeholders.

  • Experience participating in strategic opportunity planning and deal execution.

  • Experience delivering persona-based demos for K-12 buyers such as Superintendent staff, CIO, Curriculum, Finance, HR, and Procurement.

  • Familiarity with EdTech standards and identity models such as Ed-Fi, OneRoster, LTI, SAML, and OIDC.

  • Experience contributing to RFPs, RFIs, or security questionnaires in the public sector.
