Position Summary
This position is a highly responsible managerial position which independently performs administrative functions by directing the planning, organizing and executing the day-to-day operations of the Institute for Bioinformatics (IOB).
This position has equal focus on financial operations, administration, and efforts to grow the Institute. The successful candidate will be able to develop department policy, programs and procedures and assist with grant/funding proposal development and organized training/symposia events. This position is responsible for preparation of accounting statements and reports and assisting administration in the preparation of more complex statements and reports. This position exercises judgment in maintenance of accounting procedures, provides consultation to IOB faculty and staff on accounting and sponsored programs policy and procedures, as well as consultations to employees and supervisors on human resources issues. This position is distinguished by the complexity and scope of issues, independence and discretion, and the degree of technical expertise to perform successfully. Independence and communication are key because the IOB Director (direct report) is located in a different building on campus and frequently travels.

Assist with grant proposal preparation and management of the submission process. This will include:

Manage the Institute's State, Foundation and Restricted accounts according to accepted UGA and bookkeeping policies with respect to purchases, travel, HR and student funding lines. Accounts include 1 income generating account. Total accounts managed is currently about 15. Most are salary only and have few transactions.

Organize Institute meetings, symposia and workshops including travel of UGA participants to locations or outside participants traveling to UGA. This may include, but is not limited to:
