Business Office Associate/Registrar

Under the supervision of the Patients Accounts Director, the Business Office Associate/Registrar is responsible for directing patients to the various medical units with all necessary paperwork in place. Work involves responsibility for the generation of encounter forms, the collection of cash or insurance information and processes individual seeking health care. This includes interviewing prospective patients, preparing forms and records, and referring patients to appropriate units.
Essential Duties:
Generates patient encounter forms.
Collection of payments.
Referrals of patients to appropriate medical units.
Answers patient inquires.
Verifies patient insurance information.
Provides guidance for unregistered patients.
Performs daily close-outs of cash.
Generates health center patient identification card.
Ability to interact well with others, courteous, accuracy, neatness, basic mathematical competency to count money and calculate change, reliable, dependable, and ability to function under pressure.
Conducts client registration interviews, obtaining information to determine payment status eligibility.
Prepares forms and records.
Refers patients to appropriate unit.
Answers inquiries concerning registration.
Maintains records and assists in the preparation of reports.
Submits monthly reports to the Director.
Cross covers for Reception and Business Office when needed.
Provides mentoring, coaching, and providing feedback to new employees as they navigate their new roles and responsibilities
Rotates between Health Center sites as directed.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
A satisfactory combination of cashier related training and experience.
Good knowledge of Health Center organization and procedures.
Ability to prepare and maintain records.
Ability to deal courteously and effectively with the public.
Graduation from a standard High School.
One year of clerical experience or a satisfactory equivalent combination of training and experience.
