About the Role:
Alliance Française d’Atlanta is looking for a highly organized, detail-oriented part-time Business Manager to keep our business operations running smoothly behind the scenes. You’ll own finance, payroll, HR administration and compliance for a busy, mission-driven cultural nonprofit in the heart of Downtown Atlanta.

This is a business-only role: no events, no evenings, no weekends. It’s a great fit for an experienced professional who wants meaningful, flexible part-time work with a nonprofit that brings French language and Francophone culture to the Atlanta community.

Schedule: 14–18 hours a week during regular business hours (for example, 4 days × 4 hours or 3 days × 6 hours), with three weeks off per year.
Pay: $28/hour

Responsibilities:
  • Manage bill pay and accounts payable
  • Record and classify nonprofit revenue and expenses in QuickBooks Online, and prepare standard financial reports
  • Track grant and project spending against available funds, working with our external accountant, program staff and the Executive Director
  • Run biweekly payroll in ADP together with the Executive Director. We cross-train on purpose, so payroll knowledge never rests with one person.
  • Handle all ADP and E-Verify work: onboarding and offboarding paperwork, multi-state hires, and communication with ADP support. We onboard and offboard instructors almost every month.
  • Complete required monthly state reporting of new hires and staff numbers
  • Run background checks on all instructors who work with children, and keep them current
  • Monitor payroll and benefits compliance and required employee notices
  • Manage organizational insurance policies and business and event permits
  • Keep volunteer records current, including liability releases and required paperwork
  • Assemble, publish and maintain staff, teacher and volunteer handbooks and our policies (IT, confidentiality and others). The Executive Director writes the content.
  • Work with Marketing to set up clear internal communication for business matters: policy updates, change notices, pay rates and procedures
Requirements:
  • 3+ years of experience in business management, bookkeeping, payroll or nonprofit administration
  • Hands-on experience with ADP (Gusto or a similar payroll platform considered)
  • Working knowledge of QuickBooks Online
  • Understanding of nonprofit accounting basics: restricted vs. unrestricted funds, grant tracking, standard reports
  • Experience with E-Verify, I-9s, onboarding and offboarding, and background checks
  • Excellent organization, follow-through and discretion with confidential information
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, accounting or a related field, or equivalent experience
  • Proficiency in French is a plus but not required
  • Passion for nonprofit, educational or cultural work
Perks:
  • Free French group classes
  • Flexible weekday schedule: you choose your days, with no evenings, weekends or events
  • Some remote work possible
  • Free AFA membership and admission to our cultural events
