The Business Investment Manager supports efforts to position the Pittsburgh region as a competitive location for business retention, expansion, and attraction. The role combines business engagement, stakeholder coordination, and project management to support business recruitment and retention efforts across priority industry sectors.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Project and Portfolio Management
- Supports project management activities within priority growth sectors (e.g., Robotics/Artificial Intelligence, Life Sciences, Energy, Advanced Manufacturing), advancing strategies that support business attraction and retention in the region.
Client and Stakeholder Engagement
- Serves as a relationship manager for corporate clients, site selectors, and economic development partners, guiding them through the active project process.
- Establishes partnerships with state and county agencies, business leaders, real estate professionals, utility providers, and academic and research institutions to align regional efforts and support successful project outcomes.
Project Activation and Business Development
- Coordinates responses to requests for information (RFIs) and other project activation efforts.
- Plans and executes site visits.
- Participates in national and international trade shows, conferences, meetings, and related business development events.
Data Integration and Business Case Development
- Utilizes economic, real estate, and workforce data to develop business cases and support prospect decision-making processes.
Systems and Process Management
- Utilizes systems and tools such as Salesforce, PA SITES, CoStar, MailChimp, and Teams to track project activity and maintain stakeholder information.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partners with Marketing, Policy, and Strategy & Research teams to ensure a consistent, data-informed business attraction message.
- Supports other Allegheny Conference teams as needed.
EDUCATION
- Bachelor’s degree required.
EXPERIENCE
- 1–3 years of professional experience in business development, commercial real estate, corporate investment, or economic development.
- Strong analytical, presentation, and relationship management skills.
TRAVEL REQUIRED
- In-region and out-of-state travel is required for meetings, events, and other activities. This includes driving prospects to events and sites in support of their project goals.
