    Business Development Manager, Pharmaceutical

    Your Role and Impact

As the Principal Business Development Manager for Pharmaceutical Markets, you will lead growth with priority pharmaceutical manufacturers and contract development and manufacturing organizations across North America. You will develop strategic customer relationships, identify project and aftermarket opportunities, and coordinate Flowserve teams to deliver integrated solutions across customer sites.

This is a high-impact, customer-facing role with the opportunity to shape Flowserve’s presence in small-molecule drug manufacturing. Your work will help establish long-term customer partnerships, expand equipment standardization, and generate repeatable project and service growth across the Flowserve portfolio.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Develop and execute strategic account plans for priority pharmaceutical customers, including investment plans, key sites, stakeholders, product opportunities, and project and aftermarket booking targets.
    • Build relationships with customer stakeholders in engineering, procurement, operations, maintenance, and corporate leadership to identify and advance growth opportunities.
    • Identify, qualify, and pursue greenfield, expansion, modernization, and reliability projects from early planning through award.
    • Engage project owners, engineering and construction firms, design consultants, equipment manufacturers, and skid builders to influence specifications and position Flowserve solutions.
    • Coordinate internal product, commercial, and service teams to support vendor qualification, approved supplier listings, proposals, negotiations, and order conversion.
    • Expand aftermarket growth by identifying installed equipment, reliability gaps, service needs, spare-parts requirements, repair opportunities, upgrades, and preventive-maintenance programs.
    • Develop relationships with distributors, channel partners, engineering firms, and other industry partners that improve access to priority accounts and project opportunities.
    • Maintain accurate account plans and opportunity records in FlowForce CRM, lead account and pipeline reviews, and report progress against project, aftermarket, and customer-growth targets.

    Required Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, chemical engineering, or a related technical discipline; alternatively, a business degree combined with relevant technical industry experience.
    • Five or more years of experience in business development, technical sales, or strategic account management supporting pharmaceutical manufacturing or closely related process industries.
    • Demonstrated experience developing strategic accounts, building qualified project pipelines, and converting opportunities into commercial bookings.
    • Working knowledge of small-molecule API manufacturing, pharmaceutical utilities, and the application of pumps, vacuum equipment, valves, seals, and related services.
    • Understanding of pharmaceutical purchasing and qualification practices, GMP environments, and customer requirements for reliability, traceability, materials, and technical documentation.

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Established relationships with pharmaceutical manufacturers, API producers, CDMOs, engineering and construction firms, equipment manufacturers, distributors, or service partners in North America.
    • Experience leading multi-site account development, vendor qualification, equipment standardization, or cross-portfolio commercial pursuits.
    • Experience identifying and developing installed-base service, repair, spare-parts, reliability, or lifecycle-management opportunities.
    • Experience coordinating cross-functional commercial teams and influencing stakeholders without direct reporting authority.
    • Strong CRM, forecasting, planning, negotiation, and communication skills, with the ability to travel extensively across North America and periodically to Europe.
