We partner with environmental consulting firms, ports and harbors, federal, municipal and local agencies, petrochemical refining and energy, waste to energy, waste management, and industry and manufacturing.Position: Business Development ManagerWe are looking for a Business Development Manager to join our growing sales team at the Orange, CA laboratory. The role supports B2B sales across the country, working closely with the VP of Sales.Key ResponsibilitiesProactively prospect, pursue, qualify, and close leads.Assist clients in navigating complex environmental regulations and develop testing programs through a consultative sales process.Cultivate existing relationships and develop strategies to grow key relationships.Manage leads and accounts, and work to achieve sales goals and close new business.Complete sales administration activities, including data tracking and CRM reporting.Maintain disciplined sales hygiene: develop and maintain strategic account plans, sales forecasts, analytics, and other reporting, consistently using Salesforce as the primary source of client data.Travel as needed to visit clients, develop territory, and attend conferences/trade shows.Collaborate with technical resources to develop solutions for clients.Facilitate quote, proposal, and RFP production and delivery from initial contact through purchase order.Continuously monitor customer, market, and competitor activity, providing insights to internal and external stakeholders.Ensure customer satisfaction by monitoring and communicating with clients, making performance changes when necessary, and sharing results with leadership and operational teams.Escalate client questions and concerns to management to ensure satisfaction.Prepare weekly/monthly reports highlighting sales activity, pipeline forecast, client commentary, and market conditions; identify opportunities and risks that may affect our value proposition.Participate in company continuous improvement programs and support team efforts.Assist or participate in thought‑leadership marketing activities such as webinars, blog posts, and white papers.What You BringExperience in environmental sales, including business development and presenting to audiences of various sizes, with a technical degree or equivalent experience.Curious, courageous, and quick‑witted.A team player who cooperates and supports teammates and leaders.Empathetic, generous, and able to assume positive intent.A voracious, continuous learner who questions to gain clarity on client objectives.Positive and resilient in challenging, high‑paced environments; takes initiative and anticipates problems.A self‑starter with exceptional time‑management skills and the ability to thrive in a remote work environment.A strong communicator and influencer; gets straight to the point.Many of the above are nice‑to‑have; if you are missing a few, please apply anyway – we'd love to meet you.In Your First 3 MonthsMeet the Onterris team and get introduced to all functions through 1:1s and formal onboarding, including visits to clients and labs.Participate in the monthly Sales Skills Development program shared across the sales community.Interact with the CRM to understand the sales cycle and how revenue growth and client interactions are tracked.Build relationships with other sales team members via group discussions and 1:1 meetings.Start working with a predetermined client set.BenefitsCompetitive compensation package: base salary plus uncapped commissions/bonuses targeting 20–35% of revenue.
