About eShepherd | Join the revolution in livestock management.
eShepherd is Gallagher’s boldest venture yet - a tech-forward agritech start-up backed by 85+ years of global innovation. We’re office-first, progress-over-perfection, and unapologetically hands-on. Our team builds world-first virtual fencing tech that’s reshaping agriculture for good.
The Product
At Gallagher, we don’t just imagine the future - we build it.
eShepherd is our breakthrough virtual fencing technology, enabling farmers to monitor, move, and manage cattle from anywhere.
Using GPS-enabled neckbands, powered by solar, farmers can create digital fence lines from their phone, transforming how land is used, reducing labour, and improving both environmental and animal welfare outcomes.
This is innovation with real-world impact - on pasture health, productivity, and profitability.
The Opportunity
Build the market. Win the customer. Help change what’s possible on the ranch.
Some sales roles ask you to inherit a territory. This one gives you the opportunity to help shape one.
eShepherd is expanding in the United States, and we're looking for an experienced Business Development Manager who can combine commercial drive with genuine credibility in agriculture.
You'll work directly with ranchers, producers, partners and industry stakeholders, identifying opportunities, building relationships and turning customer challenges into commercial growth.
This is a senior, hands-on role. You'll own opportunities from prospecting and first conversation through solution positioning, negotiation and close, while playing an important part in how eShepherd grows across the US. You'll enjoy a competitive compensation package that includes a base salary between $105,000 and $120,000 a 20% annual bonus opportunity!
Why eShepherd?
eShepherd combines the energy and opportunity of a high-growth business with the stability of Gallagher. You'll have the opportunity to build something, influence how we go to market and grow your career as the business scales globally.
And the proposition you're taking to market is different. eShepherd is built for livestock producers, backed by Gallagher, and gives ranchers ownership of the hardware rather than locking them into ongoing subscriptions.
What you'll be doing
You'll own and grow a quality pipeline across your market, with responsibility for:
Identifying and strategically targeting new business opportunities.
Taking ownership of the sales journey from prospecting through to proposal, negotiation and close.
Building trusted relationships with ranchers, producers, partners, distributors and industry stakeholders.
Understanding how individual ranching operations work and positioning eShepherd around their commercial and operational needs.
Developing opportunities through networking, prospecting, industry engagement and strong follow-up.
Leading or supporting key account opportunities, tenders, contracts and distribution agreements.
Maintaining strong CRM discipline, pipeline visibility and accurate sales forecasting.
Working closely with Customer Success to support a seamless transition from sale to onboarding and ongoing customer success.
Bringing market intelligence, customer feedback, pricing insights and competitor activity back into Sales, Product and Marketing.
Helping build the eShepherd and Gallagher brands through industry relationships, partnerships and speaking opportunities.
What you'll bring
We're looking for someone who knows how to create opportunities, not simply manage them.
You'll ideally bring:
Proven business development or key account experience within a solution-selling environment.
A demonstrated ability to identify prospects and convert opportunities into closed sales.
Experience working with ranchers and/or personal experience within agriculture.
Knowledge of AgTech solutions.
An interest in or understanding of beef cattle and grazing management.
Strong commercial judgement, communication and negotiation skills.
The ability to work autonomously and maintain momentum across multiple opportunities.
Experience within a high-growth or scale-up environment.
The ability to think strategically and then turn that thinking into action.
What you'll get
Alongside the opportunity to join eShepherd at an exciting stage of growth, our US benefits include:
Competitive salary and performance-based incentives
Medical, including pre-tax savings plans
Dental
Vision
Life Insurance
Accident and Disability Insurance
Voluntary Life Insurance
Critical Illness Insurance
Identity Theft Plan
401(k)
Employee Assistance Program
Wellness Program
Career growth opportunities as eShepherd scales globally
The tools and technology you need to succeed
A supportive, collaborative culture focused on practical problem-solving
Why make the move?
Because you can have the best of both worlds.
The pace, ownership and influence that comes with a growing AgTech business, combined with the backing of Gallagher. eShepherd is commercially available and expanding globally, supported by Gallagher's established expertise in livestock technology.
You'll be close to customers, close to the market and directly involved in building our next stage of US growth.
If you're commercially ambitious, understand agriculture and love turning relationships into opportunities, we'd like to meet you.
Applications will be reviewed as they are received, and the role may be filled before the closing date.
