Business Development Consultant 3 (Instructional Designer)

Location: Chicago, IL or Peoria, IL (Hybrid, 3 days onsite)
Duration: 12-Month Contract
Pay: $40-$43/hr + PTO, Medical, Dental, Vision, and 401(k) Match


Position Overview

We are seeking a strategic and business-driven Business Development Consultant 3 to support digital learning initiatives that drive user adoption, performance improvement, and business results. This role will partner with stakeholders, SMEs, and project teams to assess learning needs, develop role-based learning solutions, and create engaging digital learning experiences.

The ideal candidate will have a background in Learning & Development, Instructional Design, Corporate Training, or Education, along with experience leveraging AI-enabled tools to accelerate content development and improve learning effectiveness.


Responsibilities

  • Conduct learning needs analysis and identify performance gaps
  • Translate business needs into effective learning solutions and role-based learning pathways
  • Design and develop eLearning content, job aids, videos, and digital learning assets
  • Collaborate with stakeholders, SMEs, vendors, and project teams to ensure learning aligns with business objectives
  • Utilize AI-enabled tools and workflows to accelerate content creation and maintenance
  • Support learning management system (LMS) administration, reporting, and content management
  • Evaluate learning effectiveness and recommend continuous improvements
  • Manage project timelines, stakeholder inputs, and deliverables across multiple initiatives
  • Support change management and adoption efforts related to new learning programs
  • Build trusted relationships with stakeholders and gather learner feedback to improve content and outcomes

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Learning & Development, Instructional Design, Education, Business, Organizational Development, or a related field
  • 5+ years of experience in Learning & Development, Instructional Design, Corporate Training, or a related field
  • Experience conducting learning needs analysis and performance consulting
  • Experience developing role-based curriculum and digital learning content
  • Strong stakeholder engagement, communication, and relationship-building skills
  • Knowledge of adult learning principles and instructional design methodologies
  • Experience working in agile, project-based, or cross-functional environments
  • Ability to handle ambiguity, shifting priorities, and evolving business needs

Preferred Skills

  • Articulate Rise 360 and/or Storyline 360
  • Clipchamp or similar video creation tools
  • Learning Management Systems (LMS)
  • AI-assisted content development tools
  • SharePoint and Microsoft Teams
  • Excel, Power BI, Tableau, or learning analytics/reporting tools
  • Azure DevOps or similar project management platforms
  • Experience creating job aids, learning guides, and multimedia learning assets
