We are working with a private equity firm that specializes in investing in portfolio companies that utilize a high velocity M&A strategy to ensure rapid growth. The Business Development Analyst owns the top-of-funnel deal sourcing for their portfolio companies by finding, engaging, and qualifying acquisition targets, then handing a warm, well-documented pipeline to the M&A execution team.
Responsibilities·
Identify Acquisition Targets: Research and identify prospective acquisition opportunities across targeted geographies and market segments.

Drive Outbound Activity: Operate with a high level of outbound activity through cold calling, targeted email campaigns, and multi-touch outreach sequences.

Build Industry Relationships: Develop relationships with business owners, brokers, investment bankers, and other industry intermediaries within assigned markets.

Qualify Investment Opportunities: Assess strategic fit, business fundamentals, and growth profile through direct conversations with business owners.

Own Your Pipeline: Maintain accurate CRM records, outreach tracking, follow-up cadence, and detailed call notes across active opportunities.

Coordinate Internal Handoff: Organize and present opportunity-related data, call notes, and preliminary business information for investment team review.

Build our Brand: Engage directly with founders and intermediaries, building trust while communicating our partnership-oriented approach with professionalism and authenticity.
Qualifications & Personal Attributes- Bachelor's degree
- Experience in an outreach-driven field such as sales, business development, sourcing, or client development, with a track record of hitting activity or performance targets.
- Experience in private equity or M&A is a plus.
- Comfortable communicating directly with business owners in a professional, credible, and relationship-oriented manner.
- Competitive and performance-oriented, with motivation tied to measurable goals and outcomes.
- Comfortable working with CRM platforms and AI-powered tools for research, outreach, and pipeline management
- Analytical and data-driven, with the ability to spot patterns across a large volume of conversations and prioritize opportunities based on evidence rather than instinct.
- Evidence of accountability, initiative, and teamwork through athletics, leadership positions, extracurricular involvement, or other performance-oriented activities.
- Working proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint, with the ability to build clean presentations and interpret basic financial information.
