Job Description:
This job is responsible for providing advice and valuable financial solutions to complex Business Banking clients and prospects. Key responsibilities include serving as the primary point of contact/trusted advisor and acquiring, deepening, and maintaining profitable relationships, collaborating with teammates and facilitating client relationships with Product Specialists. Job expectations include having knowledge of the bank's products and services to identify cross-selling opportunities and increase overall client satisfaction.

Responsibilities:

  • Manages an extensive portfolio of complex clients and prospects with annual revenues of $20-$50 million and helps companies save, borrow, and invest for their current and future needs
  • Acquires, deepens, and maintains profitable client relationships through sales, prospecting and enhancing existing relationships
  • Understands and interprets financial and cash flow statements to assess and analyze financial conditions of companies and industry trends
  • Collaborates with local market stakeholders and teammates throughout the bank, including Investment Banking, Foreign Exchange, and Wealth Management and facilitates client relationships with Product Specialists in Credit, Treasury Management, and Merchant Services to design and deliver financial solutions to clients and prospects
  • Leads and facilitates dialogue with a variety of complex clients and prospects regarding topics such as the client and prospect industry, alternative capital structures, and general business issues
  • Coaches and mentors peers, while utilizing leadership skills
  • Adapts to changes in sales practices and broader market and industry conditions as needed

Required Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience in commercial lending, business development, commercial credit and portfolio management in business banking or middle market sector
  • Experience managing an extensive portfolio of clients with annual revenues of $20-$50 million
  • Proven track record of sales, prospecting new business, and enhancing existing relationships
  • Ability to understand and interpret financial statements and cash flow analysis to assess and analyze financial conditions of companies and industry trends

Job Description:

The Merchant Specialist (MS) provides merchant client advisory and solutions that address their processing needs. The MS proactively identifies opportunities to grow net new business to the firm, provides high level advisory to deepen relationships with clients by working closely with Business Banking Relationship Managers and Merchant Solutions partners.  This individual can provide a high level of advisory to clients and translate these opportunities into incremental business for the firm. 

Candidates should possess a deep understanding of the client’s payments ecosystem and the ability to consult them on ways to integrate and leverage our suite of solutions effectively. They will work across a matrixed coverage organization to deliver responsible growth and serve as the merchant point of contact for relationship management teams and leaders. This is a field-based role that requires travel to in-person meetings with clients, internal partners, and leaders within the firm. 

The role also includes all sales administration functions, including developing and maintaining a strong pipeline, pre-call planning, client needs assessments, preparation and presentation of product proposals, price/cost analysis, submission of implementation documentation, ongoing client relationship management and contract renewals. This role requires prospecting for existing Business Banking clients with merchant services needs, and requires knowledge of both the proprietary Bank of America Merchant Services platform as well as the Fiserv Clover platform.

Responsibilities:

  • Leverage consultative sales process and knowledge of various industries (including but not limited to healthcare, retail, restaurant) to identify clients' needs
  • Recommend solutions that meet clients' needs with a focus on more complex opportunities and solutions
  • Achieve sales and revenue goals while balancing operational excellence, risk management, and client experience expectations, maintaining accurate records and adhering to Service Level Agreements
  • Build meaningful relationships and collaborates with internal partners to provide subject matter expertise on merchant payment processing pricing, software, gateways, and security
  • Identify opportunities proactively and develops a pipeline for sales opportunities with internal partners and clients
  • Act as a champion for clients by connecting expertise across the company to help them achieve their goals
  • Establish relationships with associations, centers of influence, and vendor partners and adapts to an ever-changing payment processing environment
  • Independently identify sales opportunities from the bank’s portfolio of clients

Pay and benefits information

Pay range

$140,000.00 - $185,000.00 annualized salary, offers to be determined based on experience, education and skill set.

Discretionary incentive eligible

This role is eligible to participate in the annual discretionary plan. Employees are eligible for an annual discretionary award based on their overall individual performance results and behaviors, the performance and contributions of their line of business and/or group; and the overall success of the Company.
