    Job Summary

    The Business and Information Technology Teacher delivers Career and Technical Education (CTE) instruction in business, information technology, and computer applications. The role teaches both theory and practical skills in areas such as business management, accounting, keyboarding, office administration, computer applications, web technologies, and business law. The teacher develops lesson plans, integrates technology into instruction, evaluates student performance, maintains a safe laboratory-classroom environment, and prepares students with career-ready knowledge and technical skills.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Teach business and information technology courses in a laboratory-classroom setting.
    • Develop and implement lesson plans aligned with curriculum standards and industry competencies.
    • Instruct students in business concepts, computer applications, accounting, office administration, and information technology.
    • Teach software applications including word processing, spreadsheets, databases, presentations, and multimedia tools.
    • Provide instruction in business law, business management, finance, economics, and communication.
    • Demonstrate computer operations, keyboarding, digital technologies, and software applications.
    • Assess student learning, monitor progress, and prepare reports and evaluations.
    • Provide individual, small-group, and classroom instruction to meet diverse learning needs.
    • Maintain classroom discipline and ensure a safe learning environment.
    • Manage instructional materials, equipment, and technology resources.
    • Maintain inventory of classroom equipment and perform minor equipment maintenance.
    • Provide safety instruction for the use of computers, office equipment, and multimedia technology.
    • Participate in curriculum development, professional development, and school activities.

    Requirements:

    • Bachelor's degree in Business Education or a related field with appropriate coursework.
    • Eligible for or currently holding a Virginia Department of Education teaching license with appropriate endorsement.
    • Knowledge of business education, accounting, business law, management, finance, economics, and office administration.
    • Proficiency with computer applications including word processing, spreadsheets, databases, presentation software, and web technologies.
    • Strong classroom management, communication, and instructional skills.
    • Ability to integrate technology into classroom instruction.
    • Ability to evaluate student performance and adapt instruction to meet individual learning needs.
    • Knowledge of Career and Technical Education (CTE) curriculum and industry standards.
