Job Summary

Under direction, ensures business and operational efficiencies and improves business processes relating to projects and activities between various divisions, departments, public agencies, and private sector representatives. Exercises no supervision.

Essential Job Functions

  • Assists in evaluating efficiency of current and new programs and implementing program changes.
  • Assists with gathering, compiling, and reviewing data for performance metrics analysis.
  • Monitors current and new programs for possible efficiencies and needed improvements to programs and projects based on performance metrics data.
  • Assists in identifying and prioritizing functional and technical needs and requirements.
  • Assists in interpreting data to inform strategic decision making.
  • Assists in developing strategic plans that align with department goals and objectives.
  • Prepares written reports, summaries and presentations on project progress and results or action plans.
  • Works to ensure coordination between divisions within the department and other departments such as the City Attorney's Office, City Manager's Office, Mayor and Council District Offices.
  • May assist in identifying and prioritizing functional and technical needs and requirements for all divisions of the Office of the City Clerk.
  • Performs related duties and fulfills responsibilities as required.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelors Degree from an accredited college or university

Preferred Qualifications

  • One to three (1-3) years of working experience with elected officials and legislative staff in a municipality environment.
  • Strong background in writing, journalism, communications, public administration, or a closely related field strongly preferred with exceptional editing, proofreading, and fact-checking skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, meet strict deadlines, and adapt to changes quickly.
  • Strong organizational abilities and comfort managing multiple simultaneous deadlines and remain calm and effective under pressure or in rapidly evolving situations.
  • Familiarity with event logistics, protocol, and public-sector ceremonial practices is a plus.

One year of full-time experience is defined as 30 or more hours worked per week for 12 months. One year of higher education is defined as 30 credit hours completed at an accredited college or university.

  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively

  • Ability to have excellent interpersonal skills: able to work well with people, build rapport quickly, and represent the City professionally.
