Business Analyst – Provider Data

Contract - 4+ months

We are seeking a highly analytical, self-directed Business Analyst to support provider data assessment, discovery, and transformation initiatives across multiple Care Delivery Organizations (CDOs). This individual will evaluate current-state provider data processes, identify data and operational gaps, gather requirements from cross-functional stakeholders, and develop actionable recommendations to support a scalable provider data management and governance model.

The ideal candidate combines strong business analysis, stakeholder facilitation, data management, and healthcare operations experience. They are comfortable managing multiple workstreams independently, translating complex findings into clear documentation, and presenting recommendations to operational and executive audiences.

Key Responsibilities

Data Assessment and Discovery

• Conduct current-state assessments of provider data collection, storage, management, and usage processes across multiple CDOs.

• Inventory existing provider data elements and assess the availability of best-in-class provider attributes.

• Document provider data sources, ownership, data flows, system dependencies, and operational processes.

• Analyze provider data quality, completeness, consistency, and the processes supporting ongoing data management.

• Identify gaps between current-state capabilities and future-state provider data requirements.

• Coordinate data requests and validate submitted data elements and supporting documentation.

Stakeholder Engagement and Requirements Gathering

• Facilitate meetings, workshops, and working sessions with operational leaders and cross-functional stakeholders.

• Partner with provider services, credentialing, practice operations, marketing, technology, and other business teams to understand current processes and priorities.

• Gather, document, and validate business requirements; translate findings into practical recommendations and next steps.

• Drive follow-up actions and maintain stakeholder accountability for required data, documentation, and decisions.

• Build trusted working relationships across geographically dispersed organizations.

Analysis and Documentation

• Develop business process maps, data inventories, source-to-target mappings, gap assessments, and workflow documentation.

• Maintain project status reports, issue logs, risk registers, and workstream trackers across multiple CDOs.

• Synthesize complex findings into concise, executive-ready presentations, recommendations, and decision-support materials.

• Support development of implementation roadmaps, operating models, and plans to operationalize future-state processes.

• Contribute to sustainable provider data governance, stewardship, and data management practices.

Project Delivery

• Independently manage assigned CDOs, project workstreams, timelines, and deliverables with minimal direction.

• Coordinate stakeholders and data requests to ensure timely completion of project milestones.

• Support pilot activities, rollout planning, and onboarding of future CDOs.

• Identify project risks, dependencies, and barriers; recommend mitigation strategies and escalate when appropriate.

• Balance multiple priorities while maintaining a high standard of accuracy, organization, and communication.

Required Qualifications

• 4–8+ years of experience in business analysis, consulting, healthcare operations, data management, or a related field.

• Demonstrated ability to independently manage workstreams and deliver results with minimal direction.

• Experience conducting requirements gathering, current-state assessments, process analysis, and gap analyses.

• Strong stakeholder management, meeting facilitation, and relationship-building skills.

• Excellent analytical, critical-thinking, and problem-solving abilities.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate effectively with both operational and executive stakeholders.

• Experience developing executive-level presentations, project documentation, and recommendations.

• Advanced proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, Lucidchart, and related documentation tools.

• Proven ability to manage multiple priorities, stakeholders, and concurrent workstreams in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications

Healthcare Provider Data

• Experience with provider directories, provider master data, credentialing, provider onboarding, provider operations, or provider lifecycle management.

• Familiarity with provider demographics, professional and practice attributes, location data, network data, and related provider information.

• Experience supporting provider data quality improvement, standardization, or remediation initiatives.

Care Delivery Organizations

• Experience working with physician groups, medical groups, integrated delivery networks, care delivery organizations, population health organizations, or similar healthcare environments.

• Understanding of clinical operations, ambulatory care workflows, provider-facing processes, and healthcare operational models.

Data Management and Governance

• Experience supporting data governance, data stewardship, data cataloging, master data management, or enterprise data initiatives.

• Familiarity with source-system mapping, data lineage, data ownership, and data lifecycle concepts.

• Exposure to cloud-based data platforms, enterprise data programs, or large-scale data transformation initiatives.
