JOB DESCRIPTION: We are seeking a Senior Business Analyst with pharmaceutical industry experience to support a large-scale Data and AI Readiness initiative. The ideal candidate will bridge business stakeholders, data teams, and AI-focused resources to ensure enterprise data products are properly documented, governed, and prepared for advanced analytics and AI solutions. This role is highly focused on data discovery, metadata documentation, stakeholder engagement, business requirements gathering, and translating complex business questions into structured data requirements.
RESPONSIBILITIES:- Partner with business stakeholders to understand reporting, analytics, and AI use cases
- Facilitate workshops and discovery sessions to gather business context around data assets
- Elicit, document, and validate business requirements
- Translate business questions into structured, testable data requirements
- Create and maintain inventories mapping datasets to business needs and use cases
- Document data definitions, business rules, metadata, lineage, and data ownership
- Collaborate with Data Engineers, Architects, and AI teams to improve data readiness
- Identify gaps in data quality, metadata, documentation, and governance
- Support development of ground-truth datasets used for AI evaluation and validation
- Assist with documenting known data limitations, edge cases, and risk areas
- Create process flows, business requirements documents, data mapping documentation, and stakeholder presentations
- Work closely with data stewards and subject matter experts to ensure data accuracy and completeness
- Support governance initiatives and enterprise data standards
REQUIREMENTS:- 5+ years of Business Analyst, Business Systems Analyst, or Data Business Analyst experience
- Experience working within pharmaceutical, biotechnology, clinical research, healthcare, or life sciences organizations
- Strong requirements gathering and stakeholder management experience
- Experience supporting data, reporting, analytics, or enterprise data initiatives
- Proven ability to translate business needs into functional and technical requirements
- Experience documenting business processes, workflows, and data requirements
- Strong communication and facilitation skills
- Experience working within Agile environments
PREFERRED:- Clinical Development, Clinical Trials, Regulatory Affairs, Medical Affairs, or Pharmacovigilance experience
- Knowledge of pharmaceutical data domains and processes
- Experience with metadata management, data governance, and data quality initiatives
- Familiarity with AI, Generative AI, LLM, or data readiness projects
- Experience with SQL and data analysis
- Understanding of cloud-based data platforms and lakehouse environments
- Knowledge of CDISC, SDTM, MedDRA, GxP, or regulated healthcare data environments
