Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Business Analyst – Capital Projects Writer to support the initiation, planning, documentation, and monitoring of capital projects. The successful candidate will combine strong business analysis, requirements gathering, technical documentation, and proposal writing skills to support project delivery.
The role requires excellent written communication skills, strong analytical abilities, and the ability to translate complex technical and business concepts into clear, understandable documentation.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the initiation, planning, documentation, and monitoring of capital projects.
- Write clear, persuasive, and well-structured proposal and capital project documentation.
- Conduct requirements elicitation and produce organized meeting notes and detailed business requirements.
- Review and revise capital project documentation based on stakeholder feedback.
- Develop supporting analysis documentation, including data dictionaries.
- Work with project managers and stakeholders to obtain consensus and sign-off on requirements deliverables.
- Coordinate with project teams to obtain user acceptance testing (UAT) sign-off.
- Provide business and technical subject matter expertise throughout the project lifecycle.
- Collaborate with project managers, relationship managers, business analysts, stakeholders, and other project team members.
- Review design documentation prepared by other business analysts.
- Prepare business requirements documents (BRDs), functional requirements documents (FRDs), and high-level design documentation.
- Analyze and document requirements related to reporting and data needs.
- Develop system requirements and technical specifications that support organizational policies and business processes.
- Translate complex technical concepts and ideas into clear, concise, and understandable written content.
- Support system planning, testing, piloting, and implementation activities.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of experience in business requirements gathering, project management, testing, and workflow development for systems.
- At least 4 years of experience in proposal and/or capital project (CP) writing.
- At least 1 year of business experience.
- Minimum 4 years of experience using Microsoft Visio for flowcharting and process documentation.
- Minimum 4 years of research and business analysis experience supporting client services and system enhancements.
- At least 4 years of experience creating user documentation, testing scripts, training materials, manuals, and user guides.
- Minimum 3 years of experience using Microsoft Project.
- Strong experience with system planning, testing, piloting, and system implementation.
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and documentation skills.
- Ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple priorities.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with IT Asset Management, IT Service Management (ITSM), IT Business Management (ITBM), and ITIL methodologies.
- Experience with large-scale system integration and implementation projects.
- Knowledge of TOAD or other database/data-analysis tools.
- Strong understanding of business analysis methodologies and project documentation.
- Ability to work independently and communicate effectively with employees, users, stakeholders, and teams at all organizational levels.
- Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a deadline-driven environment.
