    Description

    Job Title: Bus Driver Substitute
    Department: Education and Youth
    Schedule: Monday-Friday, 4:30 PM - 7:00 PM, with additional flexible work hours
    Summer Hours: 7:30 AM - 1:30 PM (Monday-Thursday); hours offered as needed and are not guaranteed
    Supervisor: Education and Youth Support Specialist
    Status: Casual (on-call/substitute); non-exempt
     
    Note: This is an on-call, substitute position. Hours are offered as needed when the primary Afterschool Program Driver is unavailable and are not guaranteed on a regular or recurring basis.
     
    GENERAL DESCRIPTION
    The Afterschool Program Driver Substitute provides on-call coverage to transport afterschool students from school to home on Monday through Friday late afternoons, utilizing New American Pathways' 15-passenger van and 8-passenger minivans. This position is activated when the primary driver is unavailable and does not carry a guaranteed or fixed weekly schedule.

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Provides transportation for afterschool students using New American Pathways' 15-passenger bus and 8-passenger minivans
    • Assists with transportation of students during occasional field trips and summer camp activities
    • Ensures routine cleaning of agency vehicles prior to and following use
    • Maintains up-to-date vehicle use logs and records as required
    • Ensures that agency vehicles are fully stocked with appropriate PPE items for staff and clients
    • Other duties as assigned

    SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES

    • Clean driving record with more than 3 years of experience driving in the U.S.
    • Comfortable driving a 15-passenger bus; no special license required
    • Strong organizational skills with a proven ability to effectively multitask
    • Sensitivity to cultural diversity
    • Good time management and problem-solving skills
    • Must have a valid Georgia driver's license with up-to-date insurance coverage
    • Commitment to the organization's mission to help refugees and Georgians thrive
    • Criminal background check required

    COMPENSATION

    This is a part-time, on-call substitute position. Hours vary based on coverage needs; a set number of hours per week is not guaranteed. The hourly rate is $18-$20.
