POSITION: School Bus Driver (Part Time)
SALARY SCHEDULE:
$125 Per Day
NUMBER OF CONTRACTED WORKDAYS:
180-Day School Year
REPORTS TO:
Transportation Director / School Administration
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must be at least 21 years of age
- Valid Class B Commercial Drivers License (CDL) with Passenger and School Bus Endorsements, or willingness to obtain
- Must pass State and Federal background checks
- Must pass required Physical Examination and Drug Screening
- Ability to safely transport students in accordance with all state and federal regulations
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience driving a school bus or commercial vehicle preferred
- Positive attitude and commitment to student safety
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Dependable, punctual, and self-motivated
- Ability to work effectively with students, families, and staff
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- Knowledge of safe driving practices and student transportation procedures
- Ability to maintain order and ensure student safety while operating a school bus
- Ability to follow designated routes and schedules
- Ability to perform pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections
- Ability to communicate effectively with students, parents, and school personnel
- Ability to respond appropriately in emergency situations
PERFORMANCE/PLANNING RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Safely transport students to and from school and school-related activities
- Conduct required vehicle inspections before and after each route
- Maintain accurate transportation records and reports as required
- Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal transportation regulations
- Maintain cleanliness and basic care of assigned vehicle
- Report maintenance concerns, accidents, incidents, or safety issues promptly
- Attend required trainings and meetings
PUBLIC RELATIONS:
- Serve as a positive representative of Montezuma Elementary and Indiana Agriculture & Technology School
- Build positive relationships with students and families
- Communicate professionally and respectfully with parents, staff, and community members
- Demonstrate a commitment to student well-being and customer service
