POSITION: School Bus Driver (Part Time)

SALARY SCHEDULE:

$125 Per Day

NUMBER OF CONTRACTED WORKDAYS:

180-Day School Year

REPORTS TO:

Transportation Director / School Administration

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must be at least 21 years of age
  • Valid Class B Commercial Drivers License (CDL) with Passenger and School Bus Endorsements, or willingness to obtain
  • Must pass State and Federal background checks
  • Must pass required Physical Examination and Drug Screening
  • Ability to safely transport students in accordance with all state and federal regulations

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience driving a school bus or commercial vehicle preferred
  • Positive attitude and commitment to student safety
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Dependable, punctual, and self-motivated
  • Ability to work effectively with students, families, and staff

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Knowledge of safe driving practices and student transportation procedures
  • Ability to maintain order and ensure student safety while operating a school bus
  • Ability to follow designated routes and schedules
  • Ability to perform pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections
  • Ability to communicate effectively with students, parents, and school personnel
  • Ability to respond appropriately in emergency situations

PERFORMANCE/PLANNING RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Safely transport students to and from school and school-related activities
  • Conduct required vehicle inspections before and after each route
  • Maintain accurate transportation records and reports as required
  • Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal transportation regulations
  • Maintain cleanliness and basic care of assigned vehicle
  • Report maintenance concerns, accidents, incidents, or safety issues promptly
  • Attend required trainings and meetings

PUBLIC RELATIONS:

  • Serve as a positive representative of Montezuma Elementary and Indiana Agriculture & Technology School
  • Build positive relationships with students and families
  • Communicate professionally and respectfully with parents, staff, and community members
  • Demonstrate a commitment to student well-being and customer service
