Our Schools: Ripon Unified is made up of five elementary schools , one high school and one continuation high school. Approximately 2,288 elementary students are divided between the five elementary schools in grades TK through 8. Combined, the two high schools have approximately 1,067 students in grades 9 through 12. Our Staff: Certificated Staff includes 150+ teachers and itinerants serving regular classroom instruction and special services. Support Staff includes 200+ employees, including aides, bilingual liaisons , secretaries, custodians, yard duties, and more. Our leadership team consists of 18 administrators.     Bus Driver: Part Time

    Job Description:

    Under general supervision, to operate a school bus over designated routes to transport school children; and to do related work as required.

    Qualifications:

    1. Knowledge: Knowledge of safe driving practices; provisions of the California Motor Vehicle Code and the Education Code applicable to the operation of vehicles in transporting school children; first aid practices.

    2. Ability: Operate a school bus exercising good judgement and extreme caution; maintain order among students on a school bus; learn a designated bus route, bus stops and district traffic hazards; follows verbal and written directions.

    3. License: Possession of a valid State of California chauffeur's license and school bus driver's license.

    4. Experience: Six months experience as a bus driver of a reputable transportation service, or one year of truck driving experience.

    5. Education: Equivalent to completion of the twelfth grade.

    Typical Duties:

    1. Drives a bus daily over designated routes in accordance with time schedules, picking up and discharging school children.

    2. Escorts children across streets stopping traffic when necessary.

    3. Transports students and teachers on field trips to various locations, choosing the best route and making departure and arrival times as scheduled.

    4. Cleans interior and windows and assists in maintaining bus in safe operating condition.

    5. Maintains good order among students on the buses, following district policies regarding the discipline of children and contact with parents and other citizens.

    6. Keeps records of mileage and prepares reports of driving hazards and incidents.

    7. Inspects bus on a daily basis and before an extra curricular trip.

    Immediate Supervisor: Transportation Supervisor and Principal

    Assignment: Morning and/or afternoon, field trips and

    extra curricular assignments.

    Salary: CSEA Salary Schedule: Range 44

    Comments and Other Information

    All applicants are required to be able to obtain and hold a valid Bus Drivers License from DMV and must meet the 'Physical Qualifications For Drivers' as defined in 49CFR 391.41. These requirements are listed on DMV Form DL51.
