Position Summary:
The Bus Associate assists the bus driver in maintaining the safety and supervision of students while being transported to and from school, field trips, and other district-approved activities. This position supports positive student behavior, ensures compliance with transportation and district policies and helps students with special needs when required.
Hours: 4 hours daily guaranteed a.m./p.m. Pay: $14.46 per hour
Qualifications:
The qualified applicant must have a minimum of a high school diploma or grade level equivalent diploma (GED) and be able to pass a background check, 18 years of age or older
Must be able to relate well to children and maintain discipline in a fair and consistent manner
Ability and willingness to accept the responsibility of the position
Effective communication skills
Ability to take charge in emergency situations
Requirements Included but Not Limited To:
Involves riding in transport during morning and afternoon routes, guaranteed 2 hours in am and 2 hours in pm.
Assist with the safe loading, transport and unloading of pupils at their stops
Managing pupils' physical needs during transit
Report any behavioral, safety or health concerns to the bus driver or transportation director
Must complete required district training which may include first-aid, CPR or CPI training when required
Assisting the driver to assure safety, welfare and orderly conduct of passengers while on bus
Provide an appropriate role model for the students
Maintain confidentiality on sensitive information regarding students and staff
Maintain a high standard of student conduct at all times;during transit or at bus stops
Assisting the driver in keeping the bus clean and inspecting for damages and repairs daily
Follows all district, state and federal safety procedures and guidelines
Reports to the Transportation Director or designee
