Burglary Monitoring Specialist

The Burglary Monitoring Specialist plays a critical role in protecting Best Buy employees, customers, and assets by monitoring retail locations through CCTV systems, live alarm activity, and burglary prevention tools. This role responds to potential security threats, burglaries, vandalism, and property damage by assessing incidents in real time, coordinating with key holders and law enforcement, and documenting events through detailed reports and evidence collection. The specialist serves as a key communication link during security incidents while helping maintain a safe and secure environment across Best Buy locations.

This role is hybrid, which means you will be required to work on site Monday through Thursday at the Best Buy corporate office in Richfield, Minnesota. You can work virtually from home or another non-Best Buy location on Friday. The recruiter or hiring manager will provide more details during the hiring process.

This is a full-time overnight position from 11:30pm - 8:00am CST

What You'll Do

• Research active alarms provided by alarm monitoring center for potential burglaries in progress and report findings back to Key Holders and Law Enforcement.
• Monitor CCTV for anomalies in locations that may indicate subjects are preparing to burglarize our locations
• Provide an initial incident report to Field Asset Protection Leaders.
• Prepare and provide a nightly End of Day (EOD) Report that includes alarm numbers, incident summaries, etc.
• Analyze burglary trends to identify locations and markets that may be targeted.
• Analyze method of operation that subjects targeting locations may utilize and provide recommendations to deter burglary attempts or identify ways to catch subjects before losses occur.
• Report any questionable activity to the local authorities and store leaders.

Basic qualifications

• 1+ years of analyst or customer service experience
• 1+ years of security or related experience

Preferred qualifications

• 1+ years of experience working at a Best Buy retail store, Geek Squad Repair Depot, or DDC
• 1+ years of experience in CCTV
• Intermediate Microsoft Office Suite
• Experience with Securitas Technology, LVT, or Everon alarm systems
• Law enforcement experience
• Ability to work collaboratively and independently at times
• Call center experience and/or communication skills
