The Job in a Nutshell:

The Maintenance Repairs Technician position is responsible for developing and performing preventative and corrective maintenance on bulk bagging production equipment at the Natural Grocers Distribution Center.  This position is also responsible for timely repairs to equipment during processing; and, general warehouse repairs and maintenance.   This position is scheduled Monday through Friday and may include some holidays.

Responsibilities:

Main Ingredients:

  1. Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on production equipment, including augers and vibrating scale equipment
  2. Maintain preventive maintenance program for all production equipment, to be in compliance with Food Safety guidelines and Good Manufacturing practices
  3. Perform preventive maintenance on warehouse equipment as needed
  4. Recommend spare parts to support production and warehouse equipment; maintain parts inventory to meet production needs
  5. Inspect mechanical systems, equipment and components to identify and correct any hazards or defects
  6. Participate in dismantling, relocating and re-assembly of equipment as necessary to accommodate business growth
  7. Test equipment and machinery to verify repairs and ensure safe and efficient operation
  8. Repair and maintain all conveyor belt systems
  9. Perform pneumatic and hydraulic systems installation and repairs
  10. Maintain filters and belts on all RTU’s and air compressors
  11. Provide training and guidance to machine operators as needed
  12. Manage on-site maintenance vendors that work at the DC
  13. Carry out minor repairs in DC including changing light fixtures, changing bulbs, patching drywall, mounting racks on walls, changing out plumbing fixtures, etc.
  14. Fabricate minor parts for production or warehouse, such as machine guards
  15. Provide timely repair service to production operations to keep equipment running
  16. Create clear, accurate, complete and timely documentation of work orders
  17. Maintain a work environment that is clean and safe
  18. Work closely with vendors to ensure projects are completed efficiently and accurately, including repairs, machining, welding, fabrication, rebuilds, etc.

Qualifications:

Recipe for Success:

 

  1. Minimum 5 years of experience as repairs/maintenance technician in an automated industrial production facility, conducting preventive maintenance and repairs. Experience with auger and vibrating scale systems preferred.
  2. Must have Forklift/ Powered Pallet Jack Operator certification which must be kept current for this position
  3. Experience in a food manufacturing environment with an understanding of GMP’s, HACCP and Food Safety preferred
  4. Ability to understand and work on DC voltage required
  5. Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot maintenance issues required
  6. Possesses basic carpentry, plumbing, electrical and fabrication knowledge
  7. Ability to provide installation and repair techniques for piping systems (water, air)
  8. Possess industrial safety, machine safety and safeguarding techniques
  9. Knowledge of PLC systems a plus
  10. Ability to work with minimal supervision and take the initiative to get assigned work done efficiently and effectively and in a timely manner
  11. Ability to prioritize tasks and communicate with management on progress
  12. Strong attention to details and getting the work done right the first time
  13. Ability to work with a diverse group and provide leadership in the maintenance area
  14. Must have valid CO driver’s license
  15. Must be a non-smoker; NGVC is a health food company with a non-smoking policy
