Building Maintenance Technician

Location: Portsmouth, VA
Pay Rate: $24.00 per hour
Schedule: Monday-Friday, 7:00 AM - 4:00 PM (1-Hour Lunch Break)

Job Summary

We are seeking a reliable and hardworking Building Maintenance Technician to join our team in Portsmouth, VA. The ideal candidate will be responsible for performing general maintenance tasks, minor repairs, facility upkeep, and ensuring the building and surrounding grounds remain clean, safe, and operational.

This position is ideal for someone with experience using hand and power tools, general maintenance skills, and basic carpentry knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Patrol and maintain parking lot areas by removing trash and debris
• Empty exterior trash receptacles
• Replace damaged ceiling tiles
• Repair and replace bathroom toilet components
• Unclog drain lines and traps
• Perform painting and touch-up work as needed
• Replace light bulbs and assist with lighting maintenance
• Restock paper supplies for various departments
• Move file cabinets, furniture, and other equipment as needed
• Complete minor wall repairs, including patching and touch-ups
• Perform other general maintenance duties and facility-related tasks as assigned

Qualifications

• Previous building maintenance, facilities maintenance, handyman, or related experience preferred
• Experience using hand tools and power tools
• Basic carpentry knowledge required
• Ability to perform minor electrical and repair work
• Ability to lift, move, and carry furniture, supplies, and equipment
• Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently
• Dependable attendance and punctuality

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, and climb throughout the workday
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
• Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions
