-Overview
We are seeking a Building Maintenance Mechanic to support the general upkeep and repair of a commercial facility that includes laboratory and office space. This is a jack-of-all-trades role responsible for handling a broad range of maintenance tasks - electrical, mechanical, plumbing, carpentry, and general repairs - to ensure the building and its systems operate safely and reliably. The ideal candidate is a versatile, hands-on problem solver comfortable working in a facility that supports technical and laboratory operations.
-Responsibilities
Perform general maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs across building systems, including electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and mechanical equipment
Handle carpentry, drywall, painting, flooring, and other general facility repairs as needed
Install, repair, and replace fixtures, hardware, doors, locks, and building components
Perform minor electrical work (outlets, switches, lighting) and minor plumbing repairs (fixtures, leaks, drain clearing)
Support facility needs for office spaces, laboratories, and equipment
Diagnose issues across multiple trades and implement effective repairs to minimize downtime
Perform preventative maintenance and routine inspections on building systems and equipment
Respond to work orders and emergency maintenance requests in a timely manner
Read and interpret basic schematics, blueprints, and technical documents
Ensure all work complies with safety regulations, applicable codes, and company policies
Coordinate with facilities, maintenance teams, and outside contractors as needed
Maintain accurate documentation of repairs and maintenance activities
-Requirements
High School Diploma or equivalent
2+ years of building maintenance or general facility repair experience
Working knowledge across multiple trades (electrical, plumbing, carpentry, HVAC)
Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
Comfortable using hand and power tools across a variety of tasks
Ability to read and interpret basic diagrams and blueprints
Knowledge of general safety regulations and building codes
Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks in a facility maintenance environment

Experience working in laboratory, research, or technical facilities
Trade-specific certifications (electrical, plumbing, HVAC) a plus
