    AUXILIARY PERSONNEL POSITION DESCRIPTION

    Position: BUILDING LEVEL TECHNICIAN High School Auxiliary Level III

    Work Schedule: Variable (per location), 199 work days/ 207 days with paid holidays

    29 hours per week

    Evaluation: after 90-days, thereafter annually

    Reports to: Principal & Director of Information Technology

    Compensation: Per experience

    Summary: High School Building Technician is a team member under the direction of the Director of Technology and the School Principal. Main duties will include technology help desk tickets, chromebook repairs, hardware/software support, troubleshooting tech issues and maintaining a high level of customer service.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Provide first line troubleshooting, evaluation, and resolution of any technical problem by:
    • Resolving the problem within fifteen minutes or submitting a work order describing the specifics and attempted resolution;
    • Performing minor technical repairs or replacements to monitors, input devices, peripherals, computer cards, etc.;
    • Assisting end users in resolving software issues, including local software re-installation or application training;
    • Serving as the contact person to whom technical problems are reported and managing the building level work order process.
    • Provide basic network support by:
    • Performing maintenance such as back up, set-up and maintenance of user accounts, printer configurations, and installation of networked applications;
    • Updating and maintaining assigned passwords and folders.
    • Document and properly communicate instances of failure, repair, installation, and removal of hardware.
    • Task assignments are made by the Principal and Director of IT (or Director's Corporate IT designate) according to the corporation's specific needs. They may have additional input in identifying other preferred qualifications and/or appropriate duties that may exceed those described above, including:
    • Installation of software ensuring legality of licensing;
    • Participation in staff development activities to improve and update technical knowledge and skills and to better serve users;
    • Attending departmental staff meetings.
    • Respond to crises and provide aid in accordance with business continuity and disaster recovery plans.
    • Maintain Confidentiality.

    Qualification Requirements:

    • High School diploma or GED.
    • Technical skills and abilities with computer hardware and software.
    • Good interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills. Ability to be flexible.
    • Willingness to participate in on-going training to improve and/or develop job-related skills.
    • Excellent work habits, attendance record and successfully complete and pass all criminal history and child abuse clearances.
    • Shall remain free of any alcohol or non-prescribed controlled substance abuse in the workplace throughout his/her employment in the Corporation.

The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.

    Sensory Requirements ~ Most tasks require visual perception and discrimination. All tasks require oral communications ability.

    Environmental Factors ~ The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job:

    • Tasks are regularly performed without potential exposure to adverse environmental conditions, such as temperature and noise extremes, odors, humidity, vibrations, traffic hazards, violence, disease, or pathogenic substances.
    • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate, however the noise level can vary depending upon daily activity, but will still remain within the acceptable noise level range

    Mental Effort ~ Normal Concentration/intensity, which may include prolonged mental effort with limited opportunity for breaks.
