Job Summary:
The Building Engineer is responsible for maintaining and repairing building systems and infrastructure within a high-paced industrial manufacturing environment. This role supports facility operations including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and safety systems while ensuring compliance with safety standards and operational efficiency.
The Building Engineer is responsible for maintaining and repairing building systems and infrastructure within a high-paced industrial manufacturing environment. This role supports facility operations including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and safety systems while ensuring compliance with safety standards and operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform maintenance and repairs on mechanical, plumbing, structural, and control systems
- Monitor HVAC systems and respond to facility-related issues
- Conduct fire suppression system checks and fire extinguisher inspections
- Perform eye wash system checks and ensure compliance with safety protocols
- Support painting, touch-ups, and general facility upkeep
- Maintain energy management programs and ensure efficient system operations
- Assist with preventive maintenance programs and emergency repairs
- Inspect building systems (fire alarms, HVAC, plumbing) to ensure proper operation
- Follow all safety regulations, including PPE requirements and hazardous material handling
- Lead and redirect team members while supporting operational workflows
- Build and maintain client relationships and support new account initiatives
Required Experience:
- High School Diploma or GED required; trade school preferred
- Minimum of 4 years of building maintenance or engineering experience
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently with high confidence
- Strong communication and customer service skills
- Experience in a high-paced industrial or manufacturing environment
Nice-to-Have Experience:
- Manufacturing background
- Experience with lockout/tagout procedures
- Prior supervisory or shift management experience
Required Skills:
- Building Systems Maintenance (HVAC, Electrical, Plumbing)
- Troubleshooting & Repair
- Safety Compliance & Preventive Maintenance
Preferred Skills:
- Universal CFC License
- Refrigeration Certification
- Lift Systems Certification
- Microsoft Office (Outlook, Teams)
- iOS and general technology proficiency
Additional Skills:
- Ability to lead and redirect teams
- Strong organizational and multitasking abilities
- Ability to analyze data and make informed decisions
- Physical capability to lift 50 lbs. and perform manual tasks
- Knowledge of safety equipment and PPE standards
