    Description

    Advanced technical fieldwork in the enforcement of construction projects for compliance with the Countys construction codes, related regulations, and Building Division policies. Inspects various building sites within an assigned geographical area and enforces adherence to codes in the Structural category. Work is performed with considerable independent judgement under minimal supervision within the framework provided by the various construction codes and Division policies. Performance is reviewed by an administrative superior through oral and written communication for the appropriate discipline.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    This position requires qualified applicants to possess the following:

    • Graduation from high school or an equivalent recognized certification; minimum of four (4) years of experience as required by the State of Florida in construction work as an Architect, Engineer, Contractor, Inspector, Electrician, Plumber, Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC) Technician, or Carpenter.

    NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENT

    Qualified applicants must possess the following:

    • Florida Inspector License in the Structural trade,

    OR

    • Valid certifications from the International Code Council (ICC) and/or license from another state, with the ability to obtain Florida Provisional Certification within 120 days AND one (1) Standard Florida License within 11 months of hire,

    OR

    • Meets the postsecondary education requirement as required by the State of Florida with the ability to obtain Florida Provisional Certification within 120 days AND one (1) Standard Florida License within 11 months of hire.
