Building Automation Systems & Refrigeration SpecialistLocation: Panama City Beach, FL Pay Range: $35-$45 per hour, based on experienceWork Schedule: 40+ hours weekly, Monday through FridayA Superior Mechanical is seeking an experienced Building Automation Systems and Refrigeration Specialist to diagnose, service, and optimize commercial HVAC, refrigeration, chiller, and BAS control systems throughout the Panama City Beach area. This role combines commercial chiller expertise with BAS controls experience to service and optimize large HVAC systems while maintaining reliable BACnet MS/TP and BACnet/IP communication and overall system performance.Benefits Package401K retirement program with 4% company match50% Company-Provided Health Insurance50% Company-Provided Vision and Dental InsuranceTake-home company vehicle and fuel cardCompany-provided phone, tablet, and uniformsTool assistance program7 paid holidays yearlyUp to 3 weeks of paid vacation, based on tenure and experiencePaid technical training and opportunities for advancementSupportive team environmentKey ResponsibilitiesDiagnose, repair, maintain, and commission commercial chillers and refrigeration systemsService air-cooled and water-cooled equipment, including centrifugal, screw, and scroll chillersTroubleshoot equipment from manufacturers such as Trane, York, Carrier, and DaikinMaintain supporting plant equipment, including:Cooling towersPumps and heat exchangersChilled and condenser water systemsVariable Frequency Drives (VFDs)Perform refrigerant recovery, evacuation, charging, and leak detection in accordance with EPA requirementsDiagnose refrigeration performance, electrical, mechanical, and water-flow problemsConfigure and troubleshoot Building Automation Systems (BAS/DDC)Commission and diagnose BACnet MS/TP and BACnet/IP communication networksVerify BACnet addressing, device communication, network settings, and terminationConfigure and verify BAS points, alarms, trends, sensors, and control parametersTroubleshoot communication failures and network-related equipment issuesTest and optimize chiller staging, lead/lag sequences, temperature resets, and central plant operationWork with platforms such as Niagara N4, Metasys, WebCTRL, and Distech EC-NetParticipate in a rotating emergency on-call scheduleRequired QualificationsMinimum 5 years of commercial HVAC/R experienceAt least 2 years of BAS/DDC controls experienceStrong hands-on experience servicing large-tonnage chillers and commercial refrigeration equipmentWorking knowledge of BACnet MS/TP and BACnet/IPEPA Section 608 Universal CertificationAbility to diagnose mechanical, electrical, refrigeration, and controls-related problemsAbility to understand electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, P&IDs, ladder diagrams, and control sequencesExperience configuring and troubleshooting VFDsComfortable using laptops, digital diagnostic equipment, meters, and controls softwareValid driver's license and acceptable driving recordAbility to lift up to 50 lbs. and safely work on rooftops, ladders, aerial lifts, and in mechanical equipment roomsDesired QualificationsJourneyman or Master HVAC/Mechanical LicenseFactory training or certifications from Trane, York/JCI, Carrier, or DaikinTridium Niagara 4 (N4) Technical CertificationFamiliarity with Modbus, LonWorks, or Johnson Controls N2Apply TodayIf you have a strong background in commercial refrigeration, chillers, and building automation systems and enjoy solving complex HVAC and controls problems, we want to hear from you.
