    Job Summary

    We're seeking a BAS Controls Design Engineer to produce controls project designs, select materials, and develop sequences of operation for lower- to mid-level building automation projects, including closeout documentation. Requires solid computer skills (AutoCAD, Visio, EDS) and close collaboration with Project Managers/Engineers. Fast-paced role with occasional travel/job site visits.

    Essential Functions
    • Research and select control system peripherals
    • Lead design of controls drawings, sequences of operation, and submittals
    • Interpret construction drawings/specs to ensure design compliance
    • Identify value-add options for customers (energy efficiency, value engineering)
    • Update designs to reflect field changes (as-builts)
    • Generate O&M manuals at project close
    • Manage time/cost budgets for assigned tasks
    • Communicate project issues and field needs to the team
    • Submit daily/weekly work reports and timesheets
    • Follow safety protocols; complete OSHA 10 and OSHA 30 training
    • Take ownership of training and development plans

    Education and Experience
    • Associate's degree in a technical field or 2–5 years in building automation systems; Bachelor's in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering preferred
    • Strong mechanical aptitude and controls systems knowledge
    • Familiarity with ALC and other vendor products/protocols
    • Ability to read blueprints and electrical schematics
    • Proficient in MS Office, AutoCAD, Visio; basic TCP/IP a plus
    • Highly organized, able to work independently in a fast-paced environment
    • Valid California driver's license required
    • Strong communication skills and commitment to quality
