Job Descriptin:
We are seeking a highly analytical, technically versatile professional who can contribute across software development, quality assurance, product, and other technology initiatives while leveraging modern AI-assisted tools.
This is not a traditional role limited to a single function. The ideal candidate is a strong problem solver who can move between different types of technical work, quickly understand unfamiliar problems, and use AI tools such as ChatGPT, Claude, and AI coding assistants to accelerate their productivity.
While AI will be an important part of how this individual works, we are not looking for someone who simply accepts AI-generated answers or code. Candidates must have the technical foundation and critical-thinking skills necessary to evaluate AI output, identify mistakes, test solutions, and determine whether the proposed approach is appropriate for the underlying problem.
A working knowledge of software development is required, including the ability to understand and write Java code.
Responsibilities
- Utilize AI-assisted development tools to accelerate software development, testing, analysis, troubleshooting, documentation, and other technology-related work.
- Design, develop, modify, and troubleshoot applications and technical solutions, with Java serving as a core programming language.
- Review, validate, debug, and improve AI-generated code before it is implemented.
- Understand the business and technical requirements behind a problem rather than relying solely on AI-generated solutions.
- Contribute across multiple areas of the technology organization, including software development, QA/testing, product analysis, troubleshooting, and technical documentation.
- Develop and execute test scenarios to verify application functionality, identify defects, and confirm that solutions meet requirements.
- Investigate defects and unexpected system behavior, determine root causes, and develop appropriate solutions.
- Partner with product and business stakeholders to understand requirements, workflows, edge cases, and expected system behavior.
- Use AI tools to rapidly learn unfamiliar technologies, systems, codebases, and business domains.
- Evaluate multiple potential solutions and determine the most appropriate approach based on accuracy, maintainability, performance, security, and business requirements.
- Recognize when AI-generated recommendations are incomplete, incorrect, insecure, or inappropriate for the situation.
- Clearly explain technical decisions, including why a particular approach was selected and what alternatives were considered.
- Continuously identify opportunities to improve engineering, QA, and product workflows through responsible use of AI and automation.
Required Qualifications
- Hands-on software development experience with the ability to read, understand, troubleshoot, and write Java code.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Experience using AI tools such as ChatGPT, Claude, GitHub Copilot, or similar technologies to assist with technical work.
- Ability to independently validate AI-generated code, recommendations, test cases, and technical solutions.
- Understanding of software development fundamentals, including APIs, databases, debugging, source control, application architecture, and testing.
- Ability to investigate unfamiliar problems and quickly develop an understanding of new technologies or business processes.
- Strong attention to detail and willingness to question assumptions and verify results.
- Ability to operate effectively in an environment where responsibilities may span development, QA, product, and technical analysis.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to explain technical concepts, decisions, and findings to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Ideal Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate is less defined by a specific technology stack and more by technical aptitude, curiosity, adaptability, and judgment.
We are looking for someone who can be presented with an unfamiliar problem, use AI and other resources to rapidly develop potential solutions, and then apply their own technical knowledge to determine whether those solutions are actually correct.
This individual should be comfortable saying:
- The AI-generated solution works, but there is a better approach.
- This code looks correct at first glance, but it fails under this scenario.
- The proposed test cases are missing an important edge case.
- I haven't worked with this technology before, but I can learn enough to solve the problem.
- The requirement itself may be the issue, and we should clarify it before building anything.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working across more than one technology discipline, such as software engineering, QA, product, DevOps, support engineering, or business systems analysis.
- Experience with automated testing and test development.
- SQL and relational database experience.
- Experience working with REST APIs and distributed applications.
- Familiarity with modern Java frameworks such as Spring or Spring Boot.
- Experience with Agile software development environments.
- Demonstrated interest in generative AI, AI-assisted software development, and emerging development tools.
