The Budget Support Associate for the Moynihan Institute of Global Affairs is responsible for the Moynihan Institute's financial administration. This position will be responsible for the efficient, precise and appropriate processing, documentation and organization of the financial transactions of the Moynihan Institute. They will be responsible for offering guidance and training to faculty, staff and students on SU financial policy and procedure, maintaining accurate records, and guiding the successful flow of department finances.
The Budget Support Associate will be a departmental resource for SU administrative policy and process in general and especially with regard to financials.
Education and Experience
- BA in Business Administration, Accounting or 10 years' experience in a related field.
- MS Excel proficiency, MS Access intermediate proficiency, 5 years' experience at Syracuse University preferred.
Skills and Knowledge
- Excellent organizational skills, Excellent communication skills, Team player, Attention to detail. Able to take the lead when appropriate to the project.
- Experience with administration and financial processing at Syracuse University utilizing MySlice and Peoplesoft systems.
Responsibilities
- Process financial transactions incoming from faculty, staff, students, and student organizations; prepare travel and expense reimbursements for faculty, staff, and graduate students; revenue and invoices from external entities; co-sponsorships from collaborating departments with knowledge of restrictions on a range of grants and endowed accounts.
- Work with university departments and staff to ensure that financials are routed properly, fully documented and flowing expeditiously.
- Responsible for maintaining and further developing the efficient processing and meticulous preparation of the institute's thousands of financial transactions annually.
- Providing support for the Associate Director in the area of grants administration including professional service fees, contracts and consultant agreements.
- Training faculty, staff and students in the correct policy and procedures to ensure compliance with SU policy and department priorities.
