Job Description:
Utilize established faculty plan of work to help deliver courses and training sessions in the core subject areas, rotating through arboriculture, landscaping, nursery management, water quality, pesticide safety, turf management, and natural area restoration, in accordance with the faculty plan. Prepare and use instructional materials such as handouts, visual aids, and presentations to support effective program delivery. Write and edit blog posts, fact sheets, and web articles that translate technical content into accessible narratives.
Responsible for administrative duties that support the program promotion. Assist with planning, organizing, and scheduling event planning. and Manages clientele database, financial records, program evaluation, public service announcements and website postings. Conducts monthly, quarterly and annual reporting based on stakeholder needs. Participate in program section meetings and advisory committee meetings. Maintain positive external relations. Assist with diagnosis of plant identification, disease and insect problems as well as responding to clientele inquiries (walk-ins, calls and emails). Assist in maintaining Affirmative Action guidelines.
Responsible for assisting with field, equipment, and site upkeep. Help maintain power tools (e.g. chain saws, brush cutters, blowers) used in creating and maintaining demonstration plots and training sites. Assist with maintaining fruit grove and demonstration sites on FLREC and Extension education campus.
Proctor exams for tree trimmer certification classes, GI-BMP programs and other green industry educational events we offer (including those with cooperating peer agencies), apply for CEUs for mandated state licensing and other certification programs; handle related reporting, logistics, and payments. Driving cargo and passenger vans may be required.
Assist with 4-H & Youth programs related to commercial horticulture. Assist in planning and delivering commercial horticulture modules for 4 H and other youth programs.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Expected Salary:
$22.03 - $27 per hour, commensurate with education and experience
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor''''s degree in an appropriate area and two years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Valid Florida driver's license is required.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience working with variety of different audiences
Skill in planning a variety of programs for the target audiences
Knowledge of county and state policies and procedures as related to program mission and content.
Knowledge of Florida Friendly Landscaping principles
Skill in analysis of problems and the development and implementation of solutions
Skill in managing and updating social media
Skill in preparation of clear and precise administrative reports
Proficiency in Spanish desired
