Job OverviewBridge Project Engineer – Transportation Group at GFT in Metro Nashville, TN. The role follows a hybrid work model, requiring a minimum of three days of onsite office attendance.Engage in transformational projects that enhance transportation infrastructure and improve community connectivity. Work on highways, bridges, and traffic engineering with a focus on resilient, sustainable design and construction.ResponsibilitiesLead structural analyses, design development, and quality reviews of bridge design projects.Develop structure plans for bridges and related transportation structures such as culverts, retaining walls, noise abatement walls, pedestrian bridges, and sign structures.Prepare and review construction contract documents, including specifications, cost estimates, and shop drawings.Serve as a technical mentor to junior and support staff and contribute to internal knowledge sharing and best practices.Assist in the recruitment of junior engineers.Participate in the development of proposals as part of a pursuit team.Support GFT efforts to grow our Transportation Practice within Tennessee.Education and ExperienceBachelor's degree in Civil and/or Structural Engineering with a focus in structures from an ABET‑accredited university or college.Professional Engineer (PE) license in Tennessee or the ability to obtain licensure within three months; additional state licensure is a plus.8–10 years of progressive experience in bridge design, including new bridge design, bridge rehabilitation, load ratings, and/or bridge inspection.Proficiency with AASHTO LRFD Bridge Design Specifications.Complex structural analysis experience with software such as CSiBridge, AASHTOWare BrR, Midas 3D Civil, STAAD Pro, MDX, LUSAS, OpenBridge Designer (LEAPSteel), and/or other structural analysis tools including MathCAD.Knowledge of plan development with CADD (MicroStation, plus OpenBridge).Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word for engineering and business applications.Strong written and verbal communication skills.Strong organizational skills, initiative, and a commitment to collaboration and continuous improvement.Preferred QualificationsMaster's degree in Civil and/or Structural Engineering with a focus in structures from an ABET‑accredited university or college.Prior experience with Tennessee Department of Transportation projects, including familiarity with client design policies, standards, and specifications.Demonstrated ability to work on multiple projects in a dynamic, fast‑paced environment.Active engagement in multiple perspectives when solving problems and encouragement of reciprocal learning among team members.CompensationSalary range: $115,000 – $140,000, dependent on experience and geographic location.BenefitsHybrid (in‑person and remote) work environment.Comprehensive benefits package including wellness programs, parental leave, pet insurance, medical, dental, vision, disability, and life insurance.Tax‑deferred 401(k) savings plan.Competitive paid‑time‑off (PTO) accrual.Tuition reimbursement for continued education.Professional development support, including internal and external training and active participation in professional organizations.Incentive compensation for eligible positions.Company OverviewGFT is a privately held AEC firm focused on transportation, water, power, and buildings, calling this the Infrastructure of Life.
