A respected employee-owned engineering consulting firm is seeking a Bridge Project Engineer to join a growing transportation structures team in Chicago.

This is an opportunity for a bridge engineer who wants to work on challenging infrastructure projects, collaborate with experienced professionals, and grow within a strong technical environment.

What You’ll Do

  • Design bridges and transportation structures from concept through completion.
  • Prepare plans, specifications, and cost estimates for bridge projects.
  • Perform structural analysis and design for highway and roadway structures.
  • Support bridge rehabilitation, inspection, and new construction projects.
  • Review shop drawings and provide construction support.
  • Participate in bridge inspections and structural evaluations.
  • Coordinate with project teams, clients, and design partners.
  • Lead technical discussions and contribute to project decisions.
  • Mentor and support junior engineers.

What They’re Looking For

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering with structural coursework.
  • Master’s degree in Structural Engineering is a plus.
  • 5+ years of bridge design or bridge inspection experience.
  • Illinois Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
  • Illinois Structural Engineer (SE) license preferred or ability to obtain within one year.
  • Experience with Illinois transportation projects preferred.
  • Knowledge of bridge design standards and structural analysis.
  • Experience with FHWA/NBIS bridge inspection standards preferred.
  • Familiarity with MicroStation and structural design software preferred.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.

Compensation & Benefits

Salary: $110,000–$155,000(Based on experience, qualifications, and overall fit.)
