Breast Sonographer
Location: Syracuse, NY 13210
Schedule: 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM
Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
Duration: 14 weeks, with possibility of extension
Local Rate: $52–$65/hour, depending on experience
Travel Rate: $2,500–$2,900/week, depending on experience
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Breast Sonographer to perform diagnostic ultrasound examinations in a clinical imaging environment. The ideal candidate will have strong breast ultrasound experience, solid knowledge of anatomy and pathology, and the ability to independently perform high-quality examinations while maintaining patient safety and comfort.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform diagnostic ultrasound and vascular sonographic examinations independently and accurately.
- Perform breast, abdominal, OB/GYN, and vascular ultrasound examinations as required.
- Obtain and document relevant patient medical history prior to examinations.
- Evaluate images to differentiate normal anatomy from potential pathological findings.
- Communicate significant or relevant findings to the radiologist.
- Produce high-quality diagnostic images while following established imaging protocols.
- Assist with daily operations of the sonography department.
- Coordinate and manage patient scheduling as needed.
- Perform daily equipment checks, maintenance, and quality assurance procedures.
- Maintain accurate patient records and examination documentation.
- Follow departmental policies, safety procedures, and applicable regulatory requirements.
- Exercise sound independent judgment throughout the examination process.
- Maintain patient comfort, privacy, dignity, and safety during examinations.
- Collaborate effectively with radiologists, physicians, and other clinical staff.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited Diagnostic Medical Sonography/Ultrasound program recognized by CHEA and/or the U.S. Department of Education (USDOE).
- RDMS certification in Abdomen and OB/GYN required.
- Minimum 1 year of professional sonography experience.
- Breast ultrasound experience required.
- Strong knowledge of ultrasound procedures, anatomy, pathology, and imaging techniques.
- Ability to independently operate and troubleshoot sonographic equipment.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently while maintaining high standards of diagnostic accuracy.
- Successful completion of required pre-employment health clearance.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in breast imaging/sonography.
- Vascular ultrasound experience.
- Ability to recognize and appropriately document normal and pathological findings.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to diagnostic image quality.
- Experience working collaboratively with radiologists and multidisciplinary clinical teams.

- Day shift: 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM
- Every other weekend required
