Overview

This role is a great opportunity for experienced automotive mechanics, maintenance technicians, or mechanically inclined professionals who want to expand their skills into the electrical industry.

As a Breaker Technician, you will support the assembly, maintenance, testing, and repair of circuit breakers and electrical distribution equipment. You will work with electrical and mechanical components, drawings, hand tools, power tools, and test equipment while developing specialized skills within the electrical power industry.

What you will do

• Assemble and install electrical and mechanical components according to blueprints, diagrams, wire lists, and established procedures
• Prepare components for assembly, including cleaning parts, cutting wire, wiring, and fastening terminal connections
• Review job files and documentation to ensure required paperwork is complete and accurate
• Use raw materials and components to assist with the assembly of finished products
• Follow assembly instructions and established procedures to ensure equipment is assembled correctly
• Use hand and power tools including wire strippers, crimpers, wrenches, screwdrivers, socket drivers, pliers, and soldering equipment
• Use electrical test equipment as needed and accurately document test results
• Maintain tools and equipment in proper operating condition and calibration
• Assist with general facility maintenance involving electrical, plumbing, HVAC, woodworking, welding, and related tasks
• Develop skills in machining, spray-booth painting, electrical troubleshooting, and other technical repair activities
• Assist with loading and unloading vehicles using forklifts or pallet jacks
• Participate in corrective and preventive action processes
• Identify problems and communicate recommended corrective actions to management
• Follow all safety procedures and workplace requirements
• Perform additional duties as needed to support departmental goals

What success looks like

• Electrical and mechanical components are assembled accurately according to drawings and specifications
• Work orders, testing results, and required documentation are completed correctly
• Tools and test equipment are maintained in safe, serviceable condition
• Safety procedures are consistently followed
• Equipment and components meet quality and testing requirements
• Technical issues are identified and communicated promptly
• New electrical, mechanical, machining, and troubleshooting skills are developed over time

What we are looking for

• Strong mechanical aptitude and hands-on troubleshooting ability
• Basic knowledge of electrical and mechanical assembly
• Ability to read and interpret simple drawings, diagrams, product charts, and technical instructions
• Ability to learn to read electrical and mechanical blueprints
• General maintenance knowledge, including electrical, plumbing, HVAC, woodworking, or welding
• Familiarity with common hand tools and power tools
• Willingness and ability to learn machining, painting, electrical troubleshooting, and other technical skills
• Strong attention to detail
• Effective communication skills
• Ability to follow instructions and established work procedures
• Ability to work safely and effectively as part of a team

Education and experience

• Automotive mechanic, industrial maintenance, mechanical repair, electrical assembly, or similar hands-on experience preferred
• Previous electrical industry experience is helpful but not required
• Candidates with strong automotive or mechanical backgrounds who are interested in transitioning into the electrical industry are encouraged to apply

• This position involves working with electrical and mechanical equipment, hand tools, power tools, and electrical testing equipment
• Forklift and pallet jack operation may be required
