The Junto Cook

The Junto is a modern-day embodiment of Ben Franklin and his club of the same name. His "club for mutual improvement" brought together people from all backgrounds to discuss issues and ideas of the time while enjoying life. With an emphasis on public gathering spaces, ourhotel gives visitors, locals, entrepreneurs, and artists alike a place to come together, exchange ideas, and inspire one another. The Junto will be both a destination and a landmark of the area, helping to define and add value to the future of Columbus.

A Cook is responsible for preparing high-quality food while maintaining consistency, efficiency, and cleanliness in a fast-paced kitchen environment. This role plays an essential part in daily kitchen operations by preparing ingredients, executing recipes, and ensuring all food meets quality and safety standards. The ideal candidate is dependable, organized, and works well as part of a collaborative team while following established recipes and kitchen procedures.

Requested tasks:

  • Prepare ingredients and menu items according to recipes and quality standards.
  • Set up, stock, and organize workstations before, during, and after service.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary work area throughout each shift.
  • Operate commercial kitchen equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Follow food safety, sanitation, and health department regulations.
  • Ensure consistency in food preparation, presentation, and portioning.
  • Communicate effectively with kitchen staff and management to support smooth service.
  • Assist with inventory, stocking, and proper storage of food products.
  • Monitor product quality and report any concerns to kitchen leadership.
  • Support overall kitchen operations and assist with additional duties as assigned.

Requested capabilities:

  • At least 1+ years of related professional cooking experience
  • Experience with commercial restaurant cooking equipment
  • Ability to follow sanitation and cleanliness procedures
  • Culinary degree or related restaurant experience is preferred
  • Great communication skills with both front and back of the house
  • Handle a fast-paced cooking environment with ease
