    Role Overview

    The Branded Environments Designer II brings brand, storytelling, environmental graphics, signage, and wayfinding into the built environment. Working with increasing independence, this role translates a design brief or early concept into accurate, coordinated work that is ready to move forward.

    The ideal candidate is a thoughtful, dependable designer who contributes informed ideas, manages assigned work responsibly, communicates clearly, and balances design ambition with project scope, schedule, and budget.

    Responsibilities

    • Develop branded environment concepts and design solutions across interior environments, environmental graphics, signage, wayfinding, and storytelling.
    • Translate design briefs and early concepts into coordinated plans, diagrams, sections, elevations, color studies, schedules, models, and visualizations.
    • Support concept development through research, precedent studies, exploration, and iteration.
    • Apply principles of form, scale, color, texture, pattern, balance, composition, and proportion to project work.
    • Prepare clear, well-crafted presentation materials and contribute to client presentations and working sessions.
    • Participate actively in design reviews, charrettes, and pin-ups, offering informed ideas and responding constructively to feedback.
    • Conduct site visits, document existing conditions, and take field measurements as needed.
    • Coordinate day-to-day design tasks with project teams, internal partners, consultants, fabricators, and vendors, with guidance appropriate to the project.
    • Manage assigned workload and deadlines, communicate progress and needs clearly, and raise potential scope, schedule, or coordination issues early.
    • Review work for accuracy, completeness, legibility, and alignment with project goals and firm standards.
    • Contribute to a collaborative studio culture through curiosity, accountability, and an ongoing commitment to learning.

    Qualifications

    Experience and Skills

    • Typically 3-5 years of relevant professional experience in branded environments, environmental graphic design, experiential design, interior design, architecture, graphic design, or a related field.
    • Understanding of how brand strategy, storytelling, environmental graphics, signage, wayfinding, and interior environments come together in the built environment.
    • Experience developing design concepts and carrying assigned work through documentation and production.
    • Ability to read and develop plans, elevations, sections, details, schedules, and production files.
    • Strong visual communication, presentation, organization, and time-management skills.
    • Ability to work collaboratively, incorporate feedback, manage multiple assignments, and communicate potential risks or needs early.
    • Familiarity with materials, fabrication methods, specifications, and construction coordination is preferred.

    Software

    • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud, including Illustrator, InDesign, and Photoshop.
    • Working knowledge of 2D and 3D design and production tools. Experience with Revit and Rhino is preferred.
    • Experience with visualization, digital fabrication, or specialty environmental graphic design tools is a plus.

    Education and Credentials

    • Degree in graphic design, environmental graphic design, interior design, architecture, or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
    • LEED Green Associate accreditation is required within six months of hire.
    • Professional accreditation in an area of Living Design (such as LEED AP with Specialty, BREEAM AP, WELL AP, SITES AP, CPHC/CPHE, or RELi AP) is valued.
