Brand Art Director
Bellevue, Washington; Chicago, Illinois; San Francisco, California; Toronto, Ontario, Canada
Secure Every Identity, from AI to HumanIdentity is the key to unlocking the potential of AI. Okta secures AI by building the trusted, neutral infrastructure that enables organizations to safely embrace this new era. This work requires a relentless drive to solve complex challenges with real-world stakes. We are looking for builders and owners who operate with speed and urgency and execute with excellence. This is an opportunity to do career-defining work. Were all in on this mission. If you are too, lets talk.About the team As the leading independent identity provider for the enterprise, Okta is on a mission to build a world-class brand. Driving that mission is the Brand & Creative team: a dynamic group of designers, writers, strategists, and producers who bring the Okta brand to life across every touchpoint. About the role Okta is looking for a Brand Art Director (Social & Digital Lead) who isnt afraid to push boundaries, break category conventions, and test the limits of our visual system in the pursuit of landing culturally relevant, scroll-stopping social content. While Okta has a strong, polished brand system, standing out in todays crowded social feeds requires more than just applying visual wallpaper. We need a creative risk-taker-someone trained in traditional graphic design craft who can conceptualize bold, outside-the-box ideas that grab attention first, and then collaborate with our internal brand leads to thoughtfully ground those ideas back into our broader visual identity. Embedded directly with our Social Marketing, Content, and Video teams, you will be the creative engine driving how Okta shows up across LinkedIn, YouTube, X, and emerging channels. Youll bridge the gap between high-level brand storytelling and feed-native execution, turning complex topics like AI agent security and identity governance into compelling, human, and visually striking social experiences.
What you'll be doing Push Creative Boundaries: Conceive and execute bold, disruptive creative concepts for social campaigns that break through feed noise and challenge standard B2B tech visual tropes. Balance Disruption with System Coherence: Serve as the pioneer who tests how far the brand can stretch on social, working iteratively with the core Brand team to refine bold ideas into polished, brand-aligned assets. Translate Invisible Security Concepts: Take abstract technical topics (AI identity, autonomous governance, automated access decisions) and translate them into clear, visually engaging social formats, carousels, infographics, and digital assets. Incorporate Light Dynamic Formats: Apply basic motion principles, lightweight GIF/video wrappers, or simple animations-and collaborate with dedicated motion and video specialists-to bring static assets to life in social feeds. Lead Social Campaign Art Direction: Own the visual direction for key social initiatives, corporate announcements, and digital campaign extensions, directing internal designers, copywriters, and external agencies where needed. Partner Across Channels: Collaborate with our Experiential & Events team to capture physical event moments (at Oktane, Gartner, RSAC) and reimagine them into native, digital-first social recap stories. Test, Learn, and Adapt: Analyze social creative performance alongside social marketing partners, using performance insights to iterate quickly without clinging to creative ego.
What you'll bring to the role 5-8+ Years of Visual Art Direction Experience: A proven track record in-house at a fast-growing tech/B2B brand or at a top-tier creative agency driving social-first visual campaigns. Solid Graphic Design Foundation: A strong grasp of graphic design principles-typography, hierarchy, grid systems, composition, color theory, and layout. Basic Motion & Video Familiarity: Solid understanding of basic motion principles and simple animation workflow (Figma motion, basic After Effects/Premiere, or similar). Advanced motion skills are not required, but you have a keen eye for pacing, video storytelling, and directing motion specialists effectively. Boundary-Pushing Mindset: A portfolio demonstrating bold, outside-the-box conceptual thinking that proves you know when and how to break visual rules to capture attention. Systemic Brand Experience: Experience working inside established brand guidelines, with a demonstrated ability to stretch those guidelines for specific channels without diluting brand equity. Feed-Native Intuition: Acute understanding of platform-specific nuances (LinkedIn carousels, YouTube thumbnail strategy, X visual hooks, short-form video pacing). Cross-Functional Diplomacy: Exceptional communication skills with the diplomacy to present bold ideas to stakeholders, take constructive critique, and align back to core brand standards.
