Job SummaryWe are currently seeking an experienced Brake Press Operator to join our manufacturing team on 1st shift. The Brake Press Operator is responsible for setting up and operating press brake machinery to bend and shape sheet metal according to blueprints, specifications, and quality standards.The ideal candidate will have strong mechanical aptitude, experience reading blueprints, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to accurately measure and inspect finished parts. This position requires someone who can work independently while maintaining a strong focus on safety, quality, and productivity.
Duties & Responsibilities

• Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications to determine required bends, angles, and dimensions.
• Set up press brake machinery for production runs.
• Select and install appropriate punches, dies, and other tooling based on material and bending requirements.
• Accurately position and align sheet metal on the press brake.
• Program CNC controls to establish bending parameters, including pressure, angles, and back gauge positions.
• Operate the press brake and monitor the bending process to ensure consistent results.
• Measure and inspect finished parts to verify they meet required specifications.
• Identify defects, burrs, dimensional issues, and other quality concerns.
• Make adjustments to machine settings as needed to maintain product quality.
• Troubleshoot basic machine and production issues.
• Perform routine cleaning, lubrication, and basic maintenance of the press brake.
• Follow all company safety policies and manufacturing procedures.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Skills & Abilities

• Mechanical Aptitude: Understanding of press brake operation and the mechanics of bending metal.
• Blueprint Reading: Ability to accurately read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
• Precision Measurement: Experience using measuring tools such as calipers and micrometers.
• Attention to Detail: Ability to consistently monitor quality and maintain precise specifications.
• Basic Math Skills: Ability to calculate measurements, angles, and bending requirements.
• Computer Skills: Familiarity with CNC controls and basic machine programming.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
• Dependable, self-motivated, and safety-conscious.

Education & Experience

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 2-year technical degree or 5 years of equivalent relevant work experience.
• Previous press brake or sheet metal manufacturing experience strongly preferred.

Work Environment & Physical Requirements

• Manufacturing/industrial environment.
• Standing for extended periods of time.
• Frequent use of hands and arms while operating machinery and handling materials.
• Exposure to machinery and manufacturing noise.
• Ability to lift, move, and position heavy sheet metal and materials as required.
• Must be able to follow all safety procedures and wear required personal protective equipment.
