Job Summary:

As the Bore Operator I, II, you will ultimately be responsible for operating directional drilling equipment, completing underground boring operations, and supporting outside plant construction projects. You will set up and operate drilling equipment, complete assigned bore paths, and assist with conduit installation, hand holes, tie-ins, and other underground utility construction activities. As the Bore Operator I, II, you will make meaningful contributions to the company’s success through safe equipment operation, quality workmanship, and efficient project completion.

Key Responsibilities (Including, but not limited to):

• Set up and operate directional drilling equipment, including drills, water tanks, and grounding systems.

• Operate construction equipment safely and efficiently while completing underground boring operations.

• Confirm bore paths with locators and drill predetermined paths to designated exit points.

• Maintain communication with locators to verify drill head location throughout operations.

• Assist with potholing, remediation, hand hole installation, tie-ins, and pulling gear setup.

• Conduct post-job quality checks and ensure work meets company and customer standards.

• Maintain, inspect, and clean assigned vehicles and equipment while completing required documentation and safety inspections.

• Additional responsibilities within functional scope based on business needs

Required Qualifications:

Education, Licensing, and Certifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.

• Valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL Class A) with a satisfactory driving record.

• Must be at least 18 years of age.

Experience

• Minimum of 1 year of directional drilling experience.

• Experience with underground utilities, telecommunications construction, tie-ins, pulling gear, and product installation.

Skills and Abilities

• Ability to operate equipment in accordance with manufacturer guidelines and operator manuals.

• Ability to understand and follow company safety procedures, quality standards, and work instructions.

• Ability to work effectively as part of a team with other craft and labor personnel.

• Ability to manage time effectively and complete assigned tasks in a fast-paced construction environment.

• Ability to perform physical labor including lifting, walking, bending, stooping, climbing, and handling materials.

• Ability to work extended hours and travel for remote business requirements within Ohio, West Virginia, Virginia, Kentucky, Pennsylvania, and Indiana.

• Strong knowledge of underground utilities and telecommunications construction practices.

Preferred Qualifications:

• OSHA 10 Certification.

• OSHA 30 Certification.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.

• Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, climb, and handle materials for extended periods.

• Work performed outdoors in all weather conditions, including heat, cold, snow, ice, and rain.

• Ability to work in standard and high-risk construction environments.

• Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check.
